Highways England flew to the rescue when faced with a pile of 70 tyres dumped by fly-tippers next to the A45 in Northamptonshire. The tyres were collected and have been donated to an animal rescue charity to be used as 'sand baths' for their chickens and geese.

J23a - 25 opened as a fully operational smart motorway this morning (Wed 27 Feb).
The temporary 50mph speed limit and remaining traffic management restrictions were removed during an overnight closure. Drivers are already experiencing the benefits of this upgraded road.
