Really disappointed in @PlymUni outing a trans friend to his whole course by listing his birth name rather than preferred name to his classmates. This is completely unacceptable and goes against the 2010 Equality Act. I'd like to work with the uni to see how this can be fixed.

This! Growing up in a house riddled with homophobia and transphobia left me feeling broken, unlovable & like there was something wrong with me. I was constantly questioning why I wasn't 'normal' like my sister. This is still a painful reality for so many LGBT+ folks.
One of the worst critiques of 'It's A Sin' I've seen is accusing it of 'mother blaming' from people who clearly don't understand LGBTQ people. Some parents wreck their LGBTQ children's lives with homophobia and transphobia. They instil shame in them with disastrous consequences.

Demedicalising a gender recognition certificate doesn't change the Equality Act 2010. It's that simple. It's shameful that the Conservative government continues to encourage misinformation about what a gender recognition certificate actually is and what it does.
