Venezuela has oil. Greenland has rare Earth minerals. Luckily Iceland has only volcanoes, glaciers, and very average cricketers.

A few months ago, I said that a higher minimum wage can lead to creative destruction. Today, a new QJE paper shows exactly that: a higher MW yields "fewer but more productive firms". High wages often improve economic efficiency! It's a crucial part of the Nordic model.

The new World Inequality Report 2026 confirms: Since 1995, the 0.001% broke away while the bottom 50% stagnated. This isn't a healthy economy. It's policy failure. We don't need charity. We need structural change. Tax us. #TaxTheRich

Our paper on the inflated effects of corporate tax cuts on economic growth, published in the European Economic Review, is the journal’s most downloaded paper and has attracted the most attention on social media over the last 3 years. It's also among the most widely cited papers🧵

Heartbreaking & horrific scenes from NSW tonight. It’s hard to comprehend such monstrous violence. Solidarity to the victims & their families. Deep thanks to our first responders, including NSW paramedics, & to the brave bystanders, who ran toward danger to help others.

The World Inequality Report 26 has dropped. Extreme economic inequality remains persistent & endemic. Report foregrounds the separatism of the global rich & the urgent need for tax justice. A track of the scale, distribution & evolution of #inequality. https://t.co/NmIXJxAW8x

A 3%-a-year wage offer for Victorian health workers. A wages policy & offer that delivers a real wage cut for the foodies, wardies, cleaners & admin staff who keep our hospitals running. Just bad economic & industrial policy. Solidarity to every Victorian health worker.
