This is the most pertinent part of Dan Quinn's presser today, IMO. He essentially went back and looked at each defensive play call as a cost-benefit problem. If guys are hesitating on a specific call, upping the chances for a big play, then it "costs too much."

Didn’t realize Mike Pereira enjoys doing those live hits during NFL games bc he wants to show off his fit lol Really good inside look from Tashan
15 years after he became the first NFL on-air rules analyst, Mike Pereira's legacy has been cemented. As he nears retirement, @MikePereira gave me an inside look at the process that made him one of the most influential figures in sports broadcasting 🔗⤵️

In his Most to Least Entertaining NBA teams to watch this season, @BenGolliver has me hollering 😆 Mostly because I can’t even picture @ByVarunShankar as a 25-year-old, much less as someone’s future Pop Pop https://t.co/UCDvwfLlhA

In Cignettiville, Ind., where it’s okay to stay past halftime, a crash course on what it means to be a football school. (Spent a Saturday around the No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers, which is still a trip to say out loud — the NUMBER 2 Indiana Hoosiers!) https://t.co/TLB9PZSmJw

In Bloomington, fans are learning what it means to be a football school, which means paying their coach and staying for the second half.

Dad and Disciplinarian (and yeah, a little bit of agent, too). Ace Dybantsa is the one you need to know about if you want to understand his son and potential No. 1 pick, AJ. Terrific telling by @dougherty_jesse

Want a piece of AJ Dybantsa, basketball’s next big thing? ‘You have to go through’ his dad.

And this is @chelsea_janes in her bag… The greatest individual performance in baseball history deserved a knockout story: This is Shohei Ohtani with a bat & a glove https://t.co/NMemTQKQAq

On a night of legendary excellence, Ohtani hit three home runs and pitched six-plus scoreless innings to lift the Dodgers to the National League pennant.

After two dismal seasons of the “deconstruction phase” (Winger and Dawkins trying to build the franchise up), the #Wizards are still young & developing. So if you’re wondering when the next step will happen, I’ve got three words for you: https://t.co/hh2cweeHxZ

What can we reasonably expect from Washington this season? That’s a tough one, and the uncertainty is getting tiring.

All the reasons NBA fans should ‘aspire’ to root against the Clippers this season:
If fans need something to galvanize them for the upcoming NBA season, it should be this: The Los Angeles Clippers are the most hated team in the league. From @CandaceDBuckner:

The WNBA coaches are raging, the players are revolting and the loyal fan base is ridiculing the entire operation. So what are you going to do, Commissioner? https://t.co/MBLUjFvHUQ

Napheesa Collier said the quiet part out loud in a league where players pride themselves on action, not gratitude.

Some NFL pregame reading: #Colts co-owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon is anything but normal https://t.co/dJBVh7920R

After inheriting the team from her father, she is captivating NFL broadcasts like no woman has.

And shout out to WaPo copy editor @triple_r_ for knowing a crap ton about the “Tomb Raider” rabbit hole and providing the great line “people just can’t be normal about (Irsay-Gordon)” ‼️

The most interesting thing about the 3-0 #Colts? It's also the most unusual thing happening in the NFL this season. It's the Colts owner strolling the sideline, and taking notes. And no, she's not normal. https://t.co/dJBVh7920R
