Thank you!
I’ve said this before. I’m going to say it again. A lot of palaeoart is too conservative. This bird’s fossilised remains would most probably contain absolutely no indication of how gloriously weird and wonderful it was when alive. Make. Your. Dinosaurs. Weirder.
As an antidote to the AI garbage that seems to be slowly invading the sci-art space, here is some proper, honest, human-made art. And it is absolutely beautiful.
I’m convinced that, were it not for the small matter of extinction, Dromaeosaur hatchlings would be competing with cats for “internet’s favourite animal” status.
A little digital painting wot I done... and a reminder to Hollywood: dinosaurs were not monsters. 😉🦖

“Behind the scenes?” Seriously?? Somebody typed some 💩 and an algorithm spewed out more💩. It’s no more complex than that. Please, for the love of god, let’s not pretend there’s some kind of “process” behind this.
AI users pretending to be traditional artists… one question: why? What do you think this will achieve? Because if it’s fame, status and wealth, REAL artists everywhere have got some bad news for you.
Scientists have discovered a pre-dinosaur reptile species— Mambachiton fiandohana, an archosaur (includes bird-line and crocodilian-line creatures). Fossils revealed this species had bony plates along its backbone, indicating that armor was an evolutionary trait that came & went.
At an event this weekend a gentleman told me that he’d love to buy my books for his kids... if they were boys. But as they were girls, they weren’t “into dragons”.
So, if you identify as female, and yet, (despite that 😉) are “into” dragons, do please feel free to say so.🐉😄
Ok, so somebody just sent me one of the pictures from inside this book. And this is one of those “I’ve seen this, so now you all have to suffer too” deals. Sorry.
Anyway, behold… checks notes… Stegosaurus.
Thanks to Amazon for recommending this to me. “How to Draw Realistic Dinosaurs” with a deformed AI-generated dinosaur on the cover.
What a time to be alive.

What is “bewildering” about that?

have consistently been a beacon of decency and humanity. Values wholly lacking from those who continue to indulge in bloodsports. So yes, “Welcome to 2024” - perhaps it will be the year when we finally see these hunts consigned to history.
I received this heartbreaking message today (1st pic). I know it won’t be the last. My response is in the next 3 pics. I’ve explained my decision and I always keep it under review.
F**k the billionaire for putting me in this position. It shouldn’t be this hard to do what I love.
“Sentinels are the oldest of all dragons. Over the millenia their giant bodies become mineralised, bones become rock, seas rise and fall around them, continents move beneath them. Yet they are not dead. Deep within the cold stone a dragon's heart continues to beat.” (1/2)
NO. “We” didn’t ask for this. We asked for the opposite. We asked you to provide better tools and support for the thousands of artists who make your website a nicer place to be. Instead you chose to pander to fraudsters and thieves. You need to rethink this urgently

Unlike their predecessors, many of the second-generation Novosaurs are large and potentially dangerous. Their sale is restricted to specialist collectors and wildlife parks.
Novosaurs 2, my next book, launches August 15th.
Patagotitan doylensis.
Weighing more than seventy tons, it is by far the largest inhabitant of the lost world of Project:Tepui. See below for details of the book. (1/2)
Last year I said that even companies those that “valued” artists, including WOTC, would embrace AI - because $$$ trumps everything. Lots of people told me I was wrong.
I wanted to be wrong.
I was not wrong.
Why the long face?
A miniature Novosaur, engineered to exhibit an ornithomimosaur’s physical and behavioural traits. Its small size makes it ideally suited to customers with limited outdoor space.
Illustration from my next book, Novosaurs 2.

Thalassodromeus. Digital portrait.
This was originally going to be a commission, but world events intervened… long story… so this was painted just for fun. And because pterosaurs are cool, obviously.
The Novosaurs book is selling quickly and I don’t have many copies left. So, if you don’t have one, but would like one, you know what to do. All details in reply below 👇
