Emergency medicine. It's all about the patients. Which makes it all about the staff. Struggling with current disappointing conditions. Views my own.

Now we’ve got new Secretary of State & will need (at least) two new Ministers of State too. All while strike/pay negotiations are at crucial stage and winter might shortly make everything busier. Oh - and there’s no money - so elective recovery & capital projects have to slip.

Sad outcome for me. Flat refusal to help from @British_Airways - They refuse to reroute me because another airline involved in part of the ticket they sold me. So they’re giving me no option but to stay with them and travel the next day. 😢

45 mins in total on the phone to Sapna and her team from @British_Airways still not sorted. Complicated apparently as involves a flight with another airline. At least has said she’ll call me back within 4 hours with solution which is promising - but wasting hours of my holiday!

14 phone calls to @British_Airways - each time told they’re too busy to take my call - go online. Online it tells me to call them. No option to hold. No response from them to my tweet. Called the number given by @benlorduk - at least get through. But 30 mins & still not sorted.

Advice please @British_Airways - yesterday you emailed to say you’ve cancelled the last leg of my flight back to LHR from LSI booked for Monday - website says phone you, phone lines say to busy - go online. Have phoned 10 times so far last night and this morning…🤔

And in a country without universal healthcare, and with almost no maternity provision. So abortions will become so much more dangerous. Isn’t this just about controlling, rather than respecting, women? Land of the Free? My foot. Unusually I’m almost lost for words. 😢

And how dare the state (any state) think it has the right to interfere in such an intimate part of its citizens’ lives? That’s not government. That’s abuse. State-sponsored, human rights abuse. 😢

Not sure my opinion is valuable - I’m not American or a woman but can’t be silent on this. Appalled that any country could take such backward step in human rights as reversing Roe v Wade. No woman should be forced to do (or not do) anything with/to her body by the patriarchy.😢

ICNARC data. Great example of a picture avoiding it being necessary to tell a thousand words https://t.co/RPin7v6MZR

Been asked to delete recent tweets because they might identify patients. Done. ✅ For clarity, I don’t tweet in real time & rarely tweet about specific patients. Even those who look “real” are amalgams of various patients with key details (age, gender or condition) changed…

Home after 22 hrs on ED trolley. Everyone they met either good or brilliant. The other 20+ hours were pretty grim. I know across the #NHS 000’s of patients having similar experience. Tomorrow I’ll be back in our ED. Doing my best like everyone else. System feels broken.😢

Family member has been in their local ED for over 19 hours so far. Waited over 7 hours to see a decision maker. Since then waiting for next team. Every member of staff seems to be trying for best care. Most patients I can see being failed. System just too busy. 😢

💙 Today at midday, we'll be observing a minute's silence as part of a National Day of Reflection. The past year has been incredibly challenging; let us take time to remember those who have given so much, and honour those who have lost their lives. #NationalDayOfReflection
