"Are you prepared to sit down with the BMA?” “Of course we are, we’ve tried multiple times” @RishiSunak falsely claiming to have tried to negotiate with us when in reality we've now asked in 10 separate letters to meet with Govt to discuss pay and every request has been rebuffed.

“The public know that the only way to end this dispute is at the table” On @BBCBreakfast today, @_VivekTrivedi explains the findings of a @theBMA survey released as doctors and consultants take joint industrial action for the first time in NHS history. https://t.co/UlC6kumfAk

Once again @SteveBarclay repeated the claim that consultants receive an annual pension of £78,000 – despite NHS BSA data showing that retired consultants receive on average 40% less. Listen to the clip on BBC Radio 4 Today Programme 🧵1/🎧

What’s the one characteristic you’d think we should expect from our Secretary of State for Health and Social Care? … apparently it’s not honesty 😕
'It is categorically untrue that any agreements were made locally' Five Local Negotiating Committee chairs sign letter to @SteveBarclay calling for the health secretary to correct his 'deeply disingenuous claim' about strike exemptions on @BBCr4today

We’ve joined the @AoMRC and 23 other Royal Colleges to call on Government to prioritise child health prevention to secure our healthy future. It makes economic sense and will reduce pressure on the NHS. See the full report here: https://t.co/YhK8PIxMpK

Our next strike is NEXT WEEK on 20-22nd September in England. We'll start with Christmas Day cover on Wednesday, together with @BMA_Consultants, and then we'll stage a full walkout on Thursday and Friday. See you on the picket lines!
Upcoming strike action will involve providing Christmas Day cover along with our Consultant colleagues, on some days. Got a question about what this means in practice? Read our online guidance to Christmas Day cover: https://t.co/VlWatqTcgp

This is why @TheBMA pledge on ending sexism exists. There is no place for sexism and sexual harassment in medicine. And no place for those who hold those views.

These abhorrent views are an unfortunate illustration of recent survey findings. We cannot allow sexual abuse and misogyny to become normalised within the profession. Our stance is clear: doctors who abuse their positions to commit sexual assault have no place in medicine.
Yesterday we learned of the disgusting sexual abuse female surgeons experience in the NHS. Today, writing in the Times, recently retired anaesthetist Peter Hilton unintentionally shows exactly why disgusting sexual abuse in the NHS still thrives & prospers. Un - be - lievable.

Around 1 in 3 UK medical students plans to leave the NHS within 2 years of graduating says BMJ. @DrLatifaPatel warns: “It is not too late to fix [this increasingly untenable situation], but the power to do so rests with the Government.”

Shocking reports from one hospital, after Government inaction on RAAC. “You have doctors sat in their offices watching cracks and thinking ‘is that bigger than yesterday’. It is inexcusable that we find ourselves having to cope with such an environment."

In one case a patient was moved after water started leaking on them through the roof. Someone was moved back there the next day because it was not forecast to rain
