Why are we asking people how they feel about dropping mask mandates? We should be asking scientists, public health officials, and medical professionals what the data tell us will happen if we drop mask mandates. Look at UK, Denmark, US. Why is Ontario emulating these places?

If an Ontario child receives their 1st dose on Nov 25, they will be eligible for their 2nd on Jan 20, with full immunity by Feb 3. The Ford govt must delay their plan to lift restrictions/remove mandates on Jan 17. Let's wait until children (including those <5) are protected.

When the adults won’t step up, kids step in. 👏 👏 “They are calling for mask mandates to be extended, broad PCR test access for students and staff, and COVID-19 cases to be reported.”

Just heard on @metromorning there were approx 30% more kids than usual seeking emergency care at Sick Kids on Monday. Ongoing staffing issues due to illness & people leaving the sector. What’s the plan @fordnation ? #RepealBill124 to retain, recruit, and return healthcare heroes.

This is a good start, but always read the fine print. 6 million pads a year. In 2020 there were 1.3 million female Ontarians under the age of 18. If roughly 1/3 of those (say 500,000) are menstruating, and they have 12 periods a year, they will get one free pad a month. One.

@Sflecce Many Ontario children aren't in class right now (exact # unknown, you refuse to collect these data) because they are out sick with a disease that can have long-standing physical and cognitive sequelae. Why do you refuse to acknowledge #CovidIsNotOver and ignore calls to #MaskUp ?

When the 6-year-old woke up I told her about her vaccine appointment and she immediately drew this. That’s covid being X-ed out by the vaccine ❤️😭❤️ (shared with Tiny’s permission)

My kids can’t bring heart disease, diabetes, or cancer home from school/daycare and pass it on to their grandparents. Honestly how are we two years into a global pandemic and yet politicians are still playing these games?

6,000 people die every month from heart disease; 3,500 die from diabetes; 7,000 die monthly from cancer; 600 people die every month from overdose, which is four times the amount pre-pandemic. These diseases are a reality in our lives. It is time to learn to live with COVID-19.

@fordnation Same goes for you @JohnTory . You had no issue spending millions and millions of dollars sending armed and mounted police to parks to evict people from their homes. How will you protect patients and healthcare workers tomorrow?

Almost 2000 active covid cases in Ontario schools and daycares, 159 outbreaks in schools, 35 closed daycares. It’s Thanksgiving next week and grandparents will want to see the grandkids. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have free access to rapid antigen tests @fordnation ? #TestAllKids

On Monday I will teach my double-vaccinated, adult students virtually. On Monday my 6 YO will eat inside with kids who are 🤷‍♀️ vaccinated and my 3 YO will eat and sleep inside with kids who are not vaccinated. We won’t know if any of these kids have Covid. #TeamOntario Logic.

Just to be clear, @fordnation has money to fund our hospitals, to pay nurses properly, to ensure emergs are open and staffed up. He is *choosing* this for Ontarians, by refusing to appropriately invest in our public healthcare system. We need leaders who make better choices.

Dear @fordnation , @SylviaJonesMPP and our entire Provincial Government. I've written you this video essay—recorded while my child underwent surgery—only after 36 hours of sleep deprivation and social maneuvering to get our healthcare system to pay attention to my daughter's…

It’s been 3 days since @fordnation ’s daughter showed her support for the racist, anti-science protests in Ottawa. #WhereIsDougFord and when will he speak out against protestors who desecrated monuments to Canadian history and took food from Ontarians experiencing homelessness?

@mynamesnotgordy @Sflecce He's already committed over $160,000,000 to families in #PlanToDefundOntEd cheques. That money could have been used to give $3,000 to every single CUPE education worker in Ontario. #WorkingForWorkers , right? #onted #onpoli

@fordnation Why is our government saying NO? ❌ NO to affordable childcare? ❌ NO to supporting nurses? ❌ NO to appropriate wages for LTC staff? ❌ NO to accessing PCR and rapid tests? ❌ NO to using data to guide our covid response?

Imagine how many HEPA units, rapid tests, N95 masks, extra educators to support smaller class sizes, and outdoor learning spaces we could have gotten for $554 million. Instead, @fordnation and @Sflecce refused to invest in our schools and forced Ontario kids online. #onted

Ontario's Financial Accountability Officer says the Ford government failed to spend $5.5 billion in budgeted cash so far this year, including $670M unspent on public health, $554M unspent on schools, and $1.1B unspent on social supports like ODSP #onpoli

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the Minister of Education of our country's largest province probably shouldn't be identifying your minor child by their image, name, grade, and school on a public twitter account followed by 61+ thousand people.

In Ontario, today I learned that it's efficient to spend $30,000 to tape and untape playground equipment, our Premier is missing yet was also embroiled in a lawsuit against film company, Covid lasts 3 days, and the pandemic will end September 25. Anything else?

When anti-vaxxers were protesting outside hospitals and vaccination sites, health care workers still went to work and helped people. Ontario is in a time of crisis and our Premier (who has a second home in Toronto at his disposal and an OPP security detail) went to his cottage.

. @OntLiberal has hit a new low with this garbage. The Premier and his family haven’t been able to get into their home for most of the weekend or today because anti-vaxxers have been protesting outside their house.

@ColinDMello Alternate headline: Ontario education minister who has consistently refused to invest in simple solutions (smaller classes, masks, access to testing, cleaner air) that could have given our kids stability, now suddenly realizes that Ontario kids thrive on stability.

Ontario kids lost the most in-person learning of any kids in Canada because @Sflecce refused to listen to experts and use simple, evidence-based strategies (smaller class sizes, cleaner air, access to testing, better PPE) to make our schools safer. #onted
