Clinicians- Critical illness survivors participating in my research tell me all the time their needs are not being met by well-intentioned clinicians in inpatient and outpatient settings. I hope you'll register for this event, to learn how you can improve the care you provide.

I was shocked to receive the Richard Langford Service Award from @Walk4Pics and the @VUMC CIBS Center. I did not know Richard, an ICU survivor who lived with PICS, but by all accounts he was an incredible person and it's special to receive an award named for him. @UCFNursing

I recently had the opportunity to discuss PICS with some of Orlando's outstanding crit. care nurses at the Sept @mocaacn meeting. Hearing that we can do better by our patients in the acute care setting is a tough message to receive, but they were eager to learn and I'm grateful.

I'm proud of my friend @SGFesquire who has gone from being on death's door nine years ago to beginning a master's program this week @EmoryRollins. He continues to inspire other survivors and those of us doing PICS research. Way to go SGF!

PICS is silent, but its impact is loud—stealing strength, memory, and hope. That’s why we walk. For change. For research. For survivors. https://t.co/PKNEB7lQw4 | https://t.co/KErOc65S7X

This was a great message from our commencement speaker.
“Here’s your cheat code — choose kindness. You can never go wrong with being kind. Lead with empathy. Seek to bring out the best in others — invest in them” said Nicholas Abrahams ’20MNM, president and CEO of the Winter Park Health Foundation.

🙁 "Nobody told me or my family about delirium during my whole time in the hospital. Not the doctors, nurses, support workers - no one mentioned it." -- Delirium survivor ⭐ Communication with patients & families about the diagnosis of delirium is ESSENTIAL for good care.

Thank you @SGFesquire for your truly kind words. I now have two brothers in the ATL area. It's truly an honor to work with you on PICS advocacy, but also just to know you as a human being. People across the world are learning about PICS because of your efforts. Keep it going!
