Labour’s support for this belongs in their ‘tough choices to enable growth’ column - they may win some CBI admiration but there are few votes to gain in supporting airport expansion and many to lose to its opponents - who thrive on this kind of populist opportunity.
The Chancellor’s decision to force through a third runway at Heathrow is a disgrace - and makes a mockery of the government's alleged climate commitments. 15,000 people to lose their homes and millions more exposed to pollution, all so global aviation giants and shareholders can.
