Besides working the lookout, they explored & collected over 280 plant specimens for the DINO & University of Colorado herbaria, of which 139 (17% of today’s known taxa!) were species new to the park’s records.

One of the most common fossils we find for this animal are those of the bony plates, also known as osteoderms, that would have covered its back and acted as a type of armor for protection. These fossils are often range in size from a pea - half-dollar in most specimens. #NPSPaleo
