Our paleontology field season is starting to wind down but we’re still getting out! when fossil are larger and fragile, like the rhino leg our team is working on here we make a large plaster jacket to bring it back to the lab safely. #FossilFriday #FromTheField

The area around the barn at the Historic Cant Ranch is now closed to the public for preservation work to replace the roof and support elements. The closure is estimated to last until 2/28/26. Please follow posted closure signs.

The Blue Basin Trailhead, just 5 minutes from the visitor center hosts the not to be missed 1.3-mile Island In Time trail. It's cooling off here and we are expecting rain, which means the colors are going to POP and deepen. 🥾😃📸

🚨The Clarno Unit of the park is CLOSED until further notice due to danger from the Black Rock fire. The public is asked to stay out of the area as evacuation orders are in effect and to not hinder fire operations. 🚨

Know before you go! The Black Rock fire is burning northwest of the Clarno Unit of the park. It is currently not impacting visitation to the park. use cation when driving as fire crews will be in the area. For current conditions, you can go here:

It's a Quail on a mail...box! California Quail don't need to drink water most of the time. They get most of their moisture from insects and succulent vegetation.

The visitor center is currently experiencing a power outage. Bathrooms are closed and the visitor center will remain closed until power is restored. Please use vault toilets at Blue Basin or Mascall Overlook.
