Sitting here this morning and reflecting on what I’ve needed to go through - 2 JRs vs CEC and thousands of hours of personal time and stress not to mention the impact on family life, to prove conclusively that the way Dickins lets homes has always been lawful. If I hadn’t done
@DickinsEdin A great result and vindication of your efforts on both judicial reviews. Without success on both JR1 and JR2, this appeal would have been unsuccessful. Some grand claims have been made by some, that business like yours have ‘always’ been operating unlawfully and planning

@DrScottArthurMP hilarious hypocrisy! One of the main supporters of wiping out licensed self-catering accomodation & also responsible for data breaches - encouraging vigilantes to hate on stl owners! You may have forgotten but us voters haven't! @SaveSCScotland @EdinburghLabour

Venezuela’s economy collapsed before major sanctions ever began. This analysis traces the data, timelines, and policies that led to one of the worst economic failures in modern history—and why socialism, not sanctions, bears responsibility. Read more:

Visitor Levy: Quarterly returns. Complex % (not a flat fee). Monthly figures. 5-year record retention. Already drowning in compliance? This levy adds cost, not value! £2 kept for every £100 collected - to do all the work! Next year? Quarterly updates to HMRC too. #SaveSC

Visitor Levy = new tracking, new records, new penalties. Quarterly returns plus monthly breakdowns. HMRC wants quarterly tax updates. No simplification - more admin. Solution: £1 per night, flat fee Fair for visitors, workable for businesses, minimal admin. Simples! #SaveSC

This is a chaotic shambles - and someone needs to take leadership and call a halt. Accommodation providers didn’t have 9 months to prepare when @Edinburgh_CC only sent formal comms on 17 Sept, some arriving this week by untracked post. You can’t lay this at the doors of @Airbnb

Two accommodation booking sites are not fully set up to implement Edinburgh’s new ‘tourist tax’ despite charges taking effect this month.

When did it become normal for young people to attend job interviews, often in person, and hear nothing afterwards? No yes. No no. No anything. Total radio silence. HR departments have grown like topsy; peddle endless DEI ‘Be Kind’ twaddle; yet treat young jobseekers with contempt

Customer service at its best from @Edinburgh_CC where applicants must fight through a submission system that does not allow uploads of all files & then you're told you have 24 hours to provide the rest or your application's cancelled! The tail that wags the dog. #SaveSC @Assc

@theipaper You might want to mention that she campaigns for Living Rent - major players in the ideological campaign against self catering businesses in Edinburgh. Hardly a random resident.

@FabulousFidel @rock_shamrock @Edinburgh_CC @oasis @liamgallagher @NoelGallagher @mainlyoasis @OasisMania @jk_rowling @SaveSCScotland @ASSCnews All funds that went to judicial reviews sat in lawyers own accounts. It never went anywhere outside of this. STL Solutions completely separate, but has ultimately led to them initiating JR3 so far spending around 20 days of input for on this case for free.

@FabulousFidel @rock_shamrock @Edinburgh_CC @oasis @liamgallagher @NoelGallagher @mainlyoasis @OasisMania @jk_rowling @SaveSCScotland @ASSCnews 50% approximately went to JR2 after expenses repaid. This allowed everyone to continue to operate without automatic requirement for planning permission. Otherwise most would have to close over a year ago. The remainder was used (after vote with supporters) for further legals .

The tourist levy is actually a tax on everyone & now it seems it's an excuse for opportunists to fleece locals & visitors alike. Bill + VAT + Tip + Levy + VAT + MadeUp% = TOO MUCH #SaveSC #touristtax #visitorlevy #touristlevy

Those who play by the rules get flayed by the rules. Those who ignore the rules, as you were. Everything's golden. #SaveSC
@rock_shamrock @SaveSCScotland @LBC @LBCNews @NickFerrariLBC The professional industry spend up to £10,000 per STL on COLs, planning, licensing and professional fees only to be refused retrospective planning. Meanwhile chancers enter the market with no license or planning or any of the massive costs. The blanket ban created a free for all.

Is this best practice? Success? Fair? Or just bloody outrageous? Edinburgh’s #VisitorLevy starts 1 Oct – but there’s still: ❌ No guidance ❌ No VAT clarity ❌ No exemptions ❌ No comms plan ❌ No portal til 2026 #TourismPolicy #ASSC #FairTourism

And the Cockburn Association can take responsibility for their part in this. They called for tough licensing and that was always only going to make prices rise not fall.
" New evidence presented to the Scottish Parliament by The Fringe Society revealed that growing numbers of ticket buyers and artists being put off going to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe due to the soaring cost of accommodation in the city "

Trying to claim the STL legislation as a success is truly trying to pull the wool over the eyes of Scotland. The scheme is a mess with so many unresolved issues. The SNP need to claim this as a success seems to be clouding their ability to acknowledge the many outstanding
