A purely political decision that completely ignores the advice and lived experience from those at the heart of the basin.
The @AlboMP Gov has voted to rip regional economies apart by taking their water but it didn’t have to be this way. There are other ways to work with communities to get better env outcomes, but @tanya_plibersek chose the most damaging and divisive options with least env benefit

How good is this? Aiming to demystify farming for our city cousins, and highlight how innovative, progressive and productive our industry is. A few well-known local characters including @lockrey_tony & @MartinMurray_Ag

How can they continue to disregard 100% of Basin local governments opposing these buybacks? Both Northern and Southern basin, united as one. Slap in the face for all our local councils who work hard to promote and provide a sustainable community for their region.
Balanced socio economic & environmental needs are critical. #beyondbuybacks Does @tanya_plibersek know how much irrigated Agriculture adds to community sustainability & resilience? There are some Basin mayors & chambers of commerce who could explain it to her. @Nat_Irrigators

Frustrating that those of us here on the ground that know the socio-economic effects of buybacks- for eg reduced school enrolments, which have flow-on effects for health & community services are ignored by those in C’bra making decisions @tanya_plibersek
Teachers, students and parents in the Basin are worried about the future of their schools yet the former shadow for education @tanya_plibersek won't listen. Read our report - https://t.co/BgPIyaK90q

So good to be into #harvest22 This field was well & truly underwater 5 wks ago. Very satisfactory yields and quality coming off, much to our amazement. There’s hope for all our west and southern farmtwit friends 🤞🏻

Making a start at 9pm on a Friday. What could possibly go wrong? Lightning in the west, and crop flat on the ground 🤞🏻

The Gurley Creek this morning 22/10, as big as it was in 2001. That’s my road to town running top to bottom through the gap in the trees. Meets the Moomin Ck just to right of pic and fills all dryland fields outside levee. Luckily no wheat in here this year

For a normally dry creek, Gurley Creek sure does put on a banker when it decides to flow. 1st 📷 is at bridge on Tycannah-Millie Rd. Once past that it becomes a delta and flows across floodways to south and west around us, rarely staying within creekbed, eventually to Moomin Ck

Yikes! I hope this week’s prediction is wrong. 100-150 at home and 200+ in the headwaters in the hills above us 😬
