Too many Australians have been touched by gender-based violence. This can’t be the norm for the next generation. Our government will continue acting with urgency. But lasting change requires a whole-of-community effort. Crucially though, it will take leadership from men.

Our new $300 million package to make the social security system fairer has just passed the House. One of the most important things this bill does is ensure the social security system can’t be weaponised against women experiencing violence, coercive control, or financial abuse.

🚨 ATTN. New Jersey: We can do SO much better than Mikie Sherrill. She voted against the child tax credit… She voted for tax hikes… She voted to give your money to illegals… Reject her on Nov. 4th.

Seven years ago, Australia apologised to survivors abused by institutions meant to protect them. The Royal Commission, called by @JuliaGillard, helped end the silence. I’m proud we’re expanding redress so more survivors can heal. Great to chat with Julia about the RC’s impact.

Clare is incredibly brave. Whether you’re a teacher, coach, politician or CEO, the environments you create and how you respond to gendered violence makes a big difference in keeping people safe. Violence-excusing behaviour must stop before yet another young woman’s life is taken.

This is more than just four quarters. It’s every tailgate, every chant, every moment. It’s fuel that goes beyond the field. This is CELSIUS! LIVE. FIT. GO.

Such a pleasure to speak with @Committee4Syd about the crucial role carers — both paid and unpaid — play in keeping our city running. Caregiving is the fabric that holds societies together, and it’s important we make care work more visible, more valued, and less gendered.

Was an honour to speak at the St Vincent de Paul Society Good Works Summit. Most people have a Vinnies they know and love close by. It’s a charity that represents the best of Australia and I’m grateful for the amazing work its staff do every day to care for our most vulnerable.

We welcome President Lee’s apology and acknowledge how distressing this has been for Australians adopted from Korea. The impacts of poor adoption practices on intercountry adoptees & families are lifelong. We’ll keep consulting with those affected as the investigation progresses.

Goodbye Jane Goodall. It was an honour to meet her at Taronga Zoo last year. She was so inspiring to people all over the world and someone who made us all rethink our relationship with the environment. What a lifetime of contribution.

Feeling safe with your Dad is the foundation for a lifetime of security and good relationships. The Caring Dads program is one of many vital initiatives that the Albanese Labor government is investing in to break the cycle of family violence.
Proud to back Yeddung Mura’s Caring Dads program with @marisa_paterson: a culturally safe, evidence-based program helping fathers improve their relationships with their children & build safer families https://t.co/jA4KgDVPbk

Programs like Amplify are doing vital work by providing teens facing homelessness with safe housing and tailored support. We know how important it is for kids of all ages to access help in a crisis, that’s why we’ve invested $80m to expand child-centred, trauma-informed services.

I’ll happily talk about more access, lower costs, and better health outcomes for women any day of the week - but it feels particularly good during women’s health week.

But it’s not just a place of history - it is a site of living heritage, of ongoing, unbroken cultural practice. Now it will be shared with the world. Congratulations to @murujuga62857 and @MurrayWatt.

These carvings reveal over 50,000 years of knowledge and heritage of the Ngarda-Ngarli people engraved into the hard volcanic rock. Every part of the landscape has a deep and important history.

Murujuga is home to one of the most spectacular collections of rock art on earth. As Environment Minister I was proud to support this nomination led by Traditional Owners to give this amazing place the recognition and protection it deserves.

I’m so pleased to see the Murujuga Cultural Landscape inscribed on the World Heritage list overnight. This has been a long held aspiration of Elders and the community, it’s great to see this recognition.

Today is National Police Legacy Day. Police Legacy organisations around Australia support police and their families, often after a police officer has passed away.
