Inoculated plots in the chickpea nutrition trial were really standing out darker green yesterday. No visual difference between inoculant +/- cobalt and moly as yet.

@DMAg_consultant @brill_ag @DaveyJohn_676 @becsta1984 @ShaunBourchier @agronomeiste @AgroJAK I use $/ha/mm in my farming business. Total rain is counted from harvest to harvest (not calendar yr). This yr was $2.41/mm not including interest, utilities, rates and drawings. Has varied from 0 to $3.20/mm historically.

This thin, stoney area is by far the best of the chickpeas (note the rock piles on the left). Darker green & far more pods, despite no nodules either on this area of the rest of the field. Applied inoculant into moisture at sowing too. An awkward time of the year for sap &

I haven't clocked how well the maize is doing at this site despite the crazy dry. It must have its roots into something good. Compared with looking over the fence, this is effectively a long term trial of notill, rotation and good soil structure through minimising compaction.

Trophy TT feels like a really flexible variety. It doesn't race away too quickly, but it has handled some tough conditions this season. Certainly less instances of Group A injury than some of the earlier alternatives.

Seriously strong oats in the trial site yesterday. I think the guys and girls will make some big strides forward with these on so many fronts. All of a sudden we have A grade herbicide options, better knowledge of how and where they fit into our rotations, a huge potential

Lots of different efforts, trials, research, Sunday trials hours, teams and projects have come together here 😍

Barleys with Net Blotch scores of 7 and above looking full of potential. Anything with a score below that is virtually defoliated in the untreateds.

Two very contrasting growth habits in one of the trial sites. DK7500 very upright (and frankly resembling an actual normal maize variety) and SC73. Let's see if it yields...

Peas at Growth Stage 1.2 Leatherman. There aren't many crops as stressful as these when it keeps raining at flowering. Meanwhile, the trial plots planted a few weeks earlier were quite stressed by the dry in November and we have been on the back foot with Powdery Mildew since.

93% and 86% ground cover averages for these two plots; both had 50kg/ha total N, but the left-hand plot had it all in the seedbed. R/h had 12kg N in seedbed and 38kg N at GS 21.

Canola following peas is looking suitably strong. Should be really enlightening come harvest. We take the nitrogen effect for granted, but is there some Root Lesion Nematode benefit too?

Big rain on the Blazer and it's really kicking off. Really need to be alert to Upper Canopy Blackleg in a season like this.

Malgas and Neptune trial strips looking highly encouraging for Net Blotch resistance and uniformity. Looking forward to seeing these two released and undergoing bulking for commercial crops in 2026!!!! 🤩

Maize could be a really great option after linseed. Unlike barley, peas (and wheat in a dry season) it doesn't suffer from Rhizoctonia bare patch. And a 30" planter with a heavy front cutting disc would get through the residue much easier than a small grain seeder 🤔

Jazz canola trying its very best in a tricky season. Definitely feels like we have made big strides with weed control this year in canola.

There are plenty of very split and uneven crops out there, but it is remarkable how they have fared. A real testament to the system; crop rotation, CTF and notill.

The Horizon has done an impressive job putting this maize in through some thick, fresh barley residue. I'm not sure I would have wanted to attempt this with a double disc on this relatively soft soil type.

A simple pre sunflower burn down trial has been a revelation on the Commelina. We already know it's very hand on Conyza, but it's not always easy to find options with only a few days plantback to sunnies!
