A staggering amount of Sleep Medicine Science has been derived from flies and other insects.
A few things that fruit fly research has allowed: Modern genetics itself - the entire idea that genes sit on chromosomes comes from fruit fly work. RNA interference- one of the most powerful tools in molecular biology Circadian rhythms - our entire understanding of the

Well... That's not overly optimistic news, Henry ๐ณ๐ณ๐๐ป
Some of the Canadian A(H5N5) viruses birds and mammals possessed the PB2-E627K Ferrets inoculated with A(H5N5) viruses showed rapid, severe disease onset, with some evidence of direct contact transmission. https://t.co/7aPJ7yg2zU

Yes indeed... That pesky Vagus Nerveโผ๏ธ Tell me again about diaphragm pumps, reflux and increased risk of aspiration. HR control and a colonic connection. @HarrySpoelstra ๐๐๐ป
Mario Murakami at #polybiofallsymposium2025: based on 3T fMRI imaging, both pre-Covid ME/CFS and Long Covid patients were found to have elevated dorsal brainstem neuroinflammationโwhich may be tied to persistent activation of the vagus nerve.

Indeed, @HarrySpoelstra My forever interest in the Vagus Nerve persists... Like the virus. Reminder: the major centres for sleep and respiratory drive are medullary ๐๐

It's a pity that so few Scientists and Clinicians are prepared to travel to the US, Dani... And for good reasonโผ๏ธ I'm not planning to attend any US meetings... Guess I'll have to drink ๐บ with you in Europe ๐๐

I'm still perplexed at why meetings aren't all offering a hybrid option. If I'm an invited speaker... Happy to attend. But the world has evolved. Flights and petrol are expensive and polluting. Stay Safe ๐ค๐ป
Champakin and eating in separate rooms. At this exact retreat last year, I requested to participate virtually. 7 people walked away with covid or another illness. I only went this time cause now Iโm hourly and theyโre gonna pay me for every second. Plus I can mask/distance

"Dog Autism" Surely there's a detox protocol for that ๐๐
Almost half of all Americans are hesitant to vaccinate their dogs. Their primary concern? Dog autism. - @CaulfieldTim

It would seem, whilst America eats itself alive, China have continued to move forward.
Chinese company UBTECH Robotics has assembled an army of humanoid robots for factory work. They donโt need recharging - the humanoids are capable of changing their own batteries, making their presence in production almost independent of humans. This is the worldโs first mass

Again, @microbeminded2 Like micro-clotting there's so much evidence of end-organ injury, but there aren't 7 Tesla magnets in abundance. This too is beautiful science ๐๐๐ป On my little island, I have to just make do
#polybiofallsymposium2025: Dr. David Izquierdo described an ongoing study of Long Covid patients with high-resolution 7T PET-MRI scanning. Work is currently focusing on fibrin accumulation, particularly in the lungs. Preliminary data finds a significant difference in lung imaging

I really want a big one to frame for my rooms, @DaniBeckman Simply magnificent ๐๐
The Society for Neuroscience meeting starts tomorrow! I prepared some microscopy images for display at the convention center in San Diego. Let me know if you see one of my images around ๐ค ๐ฌ ๐ง @SfNtweets #SfN25 #FluorescenceFriday

Whether itโs weaponising the hygiene hypothesis to suggest all infection is good for you, or using co-evolutionary โinfection has always been with usโ arguments, infection normalisers are the scientific snake oil attention tarts of the 21st century.

The fibrin-amyloid micro-clotting is hard to treat. I agree with my colleagues @resiapretorius @dbkell @PutrinoLab Some will require additional anticoagulants. Access to testing is limited. That may change, and it needs to!
@NationalAnthemX @RenzPolster The short version ๐ I had started Metformin, that helped a little. Then enoxaparin moved me from housebound to mild - a big jump (my case study below). When I treated a Bartonella infection, my PEM stopped! https://t.co/RH0kk9OuTS

Public Health died with droplet dogma, Henry. It was cremated by "Herd Immunity" and the funeral was well attended by the Anti-Vaxxers and Wellness Grifters. Heard from K. Chant of late?
Put public health at the centre of everything we do. It will fix everything else at the same time. No problems (political, economic, social etc.) exist in isolation, they all connect, led by โkeystoneโ problems as the hub. Public health is always the keystone.
