The government shutdown may have foiled an in-person visit, but it didn’t dampen our spirits for visiting professor Dr. Matt Smyth’s virtual visit to @ctchildrens this week. Virtual 🍸, grand rounds and resident case presentations carried the day! @allchildrens @UConnNeurosurg

We had the privilege of hosting @sandi_lam as the guest speaker for the 5th Annual Connection Children’s Research Institute Symposium. Her talk on “Making a difference from our corner of the world” was inspiring!

Extending the initial inclusion criteria for prenatal MMC closure has the potential to expand access to patients with a higher risk of open neural tube defects. (3/3) https://t.co/Vxc92Qyiav

s have extended the Management of Myelomeningocele Study criteria to include patients with a BMI of 35 to 40 kg/m2. We used the Fetal MMC Consortium registry to analyze the complications associated...

We used the fMMC Consortium’s registry to show that maternal-fetal surgery for open neural tube defect closure is not associated with increased risks among patients with a maternal BMI of 35-40 (a group that was originally excluded from the landmark MOMS trial). (2/3)

When the @ctchildrens Fetal Care Center launched ~2 and a half years ago, we immediately joined the North American Fetal Therapy Network and its fMMC Consortium - an innovative group that values prospective data collection. (1/2)

In this cross-sectional analysis of the pediatric neurosurgical research landscape, we identified clear recognition of the importance of multicenter research collaboration, reinforcing the need for organized initiatives to support peds nsgy research. https://t.co/TjfbJ92upP

Our state-of-the art simulation center is without a doubt one of the highlights of our amazing @UConnNeurosurg residency. It’s always fun seeing learning in action!
Another great #simulation educational session @CesiHhc for our outstanding @UConnNeurosurg residents. Resident and faculty (Dr Kureshi) mentors teaching #spinesurgery to residents and SubInterns. See 1- Do 1- Teach 1. #neurosurgery #acgme @AANSNeuro @CNS_Update

Dr. Burch has been a fantastic addition to the @UConnNeurosurg residency team. At @ctchildrens we’re proud to be part of her training. Keep up the great work Taylor! @jemartinmd #neurosurgery #residency
Black female neurosurgeons are historically underrepresented, making up just 0.6% of the profession. But statistics aren't stopping Dr. Taylor Burch from pursuing her dream. https://t.co/ML4rirbGJy

So proud of the whole team that came together, and excited that this is now an option for our epilepsy patients! At @uconnhealth and @ctchildrens we are combining our expertise to provide innovative neurosurgical care to our most vulnerable patients. https://t.co/LTEMocD7zQ

This is a perfect example of the power and value of consortium-based research. Answering questions we’d never be able to address by working in silos. Great job @GMI_Canada and everyone involved. We need more of this in pediatric neurosurgery! @PedsSection @TheASPN
Awesome example of a team based collaboration in pediatric neurosurgery - terrific work @FarbodNiazi !

There are tremendous opportunities to incorporate focused ultrasound into the pediatric neurosurgical armamentarium. Looking forward to bringing focused ultrasound to more pediatric patients with the @FUSFoundation! https://t.co/AzymW4pHrk

For a few weeks, she’d been getting the same call from the school nurse. Her daughter, Ciri, had vomited again during class. No fever. No sniffles. No explanation.
