Planning to become more active at Blue Sky & less so here. It's the same username there as here. I have other social media accounts in the usual places, send me a DM if you want to know where I'll be. I still have some seat cushions from my wedding for people who come with me!

people of the 415 area code sans plans on a Wednesday night in December: thrilled if you would consider attending tonight's Shaping San Francisco lecture, on the hot topic of Nuclear Waste in Our Midst. couple panelists I'm excited about, plus myself 👇 https://t.co/KdzldnN5Kw

Great night at Lost Landscapes last night, if you were there, let me know. Maybe you're going tonight! (first time ever I didn't take any pictures of it, here's a favorite of mine from a few years back) #sfhistory @footage

Big SFMemory Update, 303 historical images of the Bay Area, people, ferries, 1960s protests. I didn't plan it this way, but this puts the total at exactly 10,000 images online. https://t.co/kkXpJq0GV0

Happy to have helped my old friend Tom find a picture of his car, thanks to @peterhartlaub for taking up the challenge. This is why I do this. #sfhistory
I wrote this @sfchronicle column and still can't believe it happened. Photos of a high-speed auto race in Golden Gate Park. Cars going 100+ miles per hour, often with no barriers separating them from the crowd. (Then neighbors got involved.) 🏎️🏎️🏎️💨 https://t.co/g6Nl9d3ytm

Market near Mason, 1951 A sweet shot northeast on Market toward the Ferry Building. Too much here to mention, enjoy it. The Esquire (with the Harlem Globetrotters movie) & Telenews (all newsreels) along with the Douglas Building would be torn down 15 years later. #sfhistory

I’ve mentioned this before, but it still knocks me out. The carvings above the entrance of the US Customs House on Battery Street were done in place on the building when it was built around 1910. #SanFranciscoHistory #sfhistory

Fairfax, 1985 A friend lived at the Marin Town & Country Club, of course I was captivated by the old signs and the decrepitude. Others have written a lot about this place, I haven't been there in years. #sfhistory

Noe Valley, March 1936 The photo ostensibly shows the Bay Bridge under construction. What I like are a few of the Noe Valley details (circled): A couple of earthquake refugee cottages, streetcar at 29th & Noe, SP bridge at 27th & Dolores, & I can see my house. #sfhistory

These are now live on https://t.co/FvuZosTm7K along with about 200 other new old pictures #sfhistory
Nothing Special, just a little June 1937 drive across the Bay Bridge. Not so different from what many of us experienced, but I've never seen shots like this this early, 35mm hanging out the car window. #sfhistory

Key System on the Bay Bridge, Not sure of the year but this could have been an early test run, highway patrol motorcycles stopped & pedestrians standing on the bridge deck near the island. #transit #sfhistory

Breaking: Today is officially one of the biggest days of protest in American history. Over 7 million Americans turned out to No Kings events to stand up against MAGA fascism.

Scrapping Streetcars 1940-41 In the early 40s, Market Street Railway scrapped & burned dozens (maybe hundreds) of old streetcars at their Elkton Shops on San Jose Avenue (now the site of Muni's Green Division & Balboa Park Bart) Robert McFarland photographed the events #sfhistory

Broderick near Jackson, 1963 An amazing cache of house images with dates ranging from 1955-1970 have been discovered, over 1000 time capsule images from an unknown source. They're in a challenging format however, Kodachrome stereo views. this one is just a taste. #sfhistory

SP's Bayshore Roundhouse, 1941 & 2025 I rode my bike through an open gate to check out the Bayshore Roundhouse (then got locked in!) I have 1941 images showing the turntable being replaced. There's not much left there to orient the pics, but this is recognizable. #sfhistory

Geary near 19th Ave, 1959 A little something for everyone on this Richmond District block. The Wonder-Lite Do-Nut Shop, Silhouette Slenderizing, and Arko Health Food. These buildings still stand in modified form. (from a negative in the SFPL Assessor's Collection) #sfhistory

Top of the Mark, circa 1948 I've never been up there, but if I go I'm ordering a pink drink and staring out at the poor saps on Alcatraz. (a great picture from a recent huge slide donation) #sanfrancisco #sfhistory #vista #alcatraz
