Note for @RichardMarlesMP: The US National Defense Strategy, issued last Friday ridicules the "rules-based international order" as a cloud-castle abstraction. https://t.co/ylURRNEo3K

Would a person chanting "Yanks go home" get into trouble with Australia's new hate speech laws? Serious question

Combine this new foreign policy with the rampaging of ICE as a state-backed partisan militia and the legal pursuit of his critics and you get closer to the day when he and his administration can be branded fascist. Never - never - thought I could write this about America.

@QuentinDempster @4mambo @cheryl_kernot @AlboMP Often the Greens are skittish dilettantes but on this occasion they might just bring some much-needed sanity to this bill. Only the irrelevant yokels of the National Party oppose the gun controls, but there is widespread disquiet, left and right , about the attack on free speech.

LNP/Murdoch media politicised Bondi aftermath. Excellent analysis here by Clare Armstrong >>
abc.net.au
Federal Liberals are discovering the price of having been so brazen in their politicisation of the Bondi terror attack and many appear to have buyers' remorse.

A nice line from Rob Harris, analysing the furore over Anika Wells' travel bill: a scandal with Velcro
smh.com.au
It’s the simple scandals – the ones voters can explain to each other in a supermarket queue – that bring ministers undone.
