I also have to say. 18 months in to his reign and I’m no closer to knowing if Thelin is a decent manager or not. Some of the things he asks our players to do are weird.
The we’ve overpaid for bog standard players with foreign names is pretty much where I’m at now. I said after the summer window when everyone was excited by the quantity of players we signed that I’d judge later in the season. Well I’m judging now, our players are not good.

@jj_bull We've overpaid for bog standard players and we look no further forward as a team than the days of Jimmy C. In fact I'd put money on Paterson's teams to beat us regularly and think of the dress those squads included.

Only now are we starting to see attacking combinations that appear rehearsed. I don’t think he knows what midfield personnel to play. We have no depth at left back, playing a RB at CB and have a squad of wingers but a formation that doesn’t use them.

The cup win is massive. That gives Thelin more time to implement his plan. I don’t think there is any doubt though that having to switch to 3 at the back during the season has set our recruitment and playing style back months.
@thelagerbeer @AberdeenFC No progress? Hugely underwhelming European campaign, chronically inconsistent in the league, but winning an actual trophy is what we’re all here for, no? And yes, ‘anyone’ can win a cup, but we haven’t been.

A Maverick point of view.
Honestly some Aberdeen fans need a good slap and a reality check! We all want the team to do better but given where we are as a club /team, that draw was almost impossible. And our position in the league after a European run is actually pretty impressive.
