I don't normally write this sort of tweet but I am at the end of my tether. My PhD is funded by @ubeldtp part of the @ESRC and I have not received a stipend payment for 47 days. I simply do not know how I am expected to live on pay I received in August

Amount of land in the UK taken up by: Golf courses = 1,256 km2 Solar farms = 230 km2 If government ministers want to put our land to better use, why don't they take a look at golf courses first?

I included a #PatientPreference trial in a talk at last week’s #ICTMC2022 which generated quite a bit of discussion. Thought I’d follow up with a few notes on the design. 1/8 #MethodologyMonday

Despite their claims of being "guided by the science", the UK government's response to the pandemic frequently ignored scientific advice. Now that the UK's pandemic inquiry has opened scientists are increasingly being blamed for government mistakes. A 🧵 1/25

Common query came up again this week - when it is okay to exclude patients from a trial following randomisation. In theory, and especially under the intention to treat principle, once randomised, you are “in” the trial and it should remain that way. 1/5 #MethodologyMonday

One of my bugbears came up this week - the so-called “negative” trial. Trials where the overall p-value is >0.05 are not negative trials. There is no such thing as a negative trial - every trial (incl those with p>0.05) adds positively to the evidence base. 1/5 #MethodologyMonday

Fren, I am hearing much about the Human Genome Project, but I am wondering if you are familiar with the Dog Genome Project at @genome_gov? A dog’s genetic blueprint is so similar to humans that researchers can compare them and gain new insights about dog and human health!

I've updated the chart which shows the probability of sharing a space with someone with covid for the most recent ONS infection survey prevalence estimates for the UK (4.13%). Worth bearing in mind when considering whether to meet indoors.

The latest ONS infection survey is just out. Big rises across UK again. England 3.95% - 1 in 25 (from 1 in 30) Wales 4.93% - 1 in 20 (from 1 in 29) NI 5.36% - 1 in 19 (from 1 in 26) Scotland 5.94 - 1 in 17 (fro 1 in 18) UK 4.13% (1 in 24) No sign of abatement in these rises.

Please RT. PhD students funded by @UKRI_News face a cash crisis. They are working full-time, yet earning less than living wage. With the rising cost of living and increasing pressure to deliver high quality research that benefits society, something needs to change. THREAD (1/10)

The overturning of Roe v Wade is an assault on women’s human rights, their lives, and their families. The UK government and @trussliz CANNOT remain silent as women's human rights are breached. Take action: https://t.co/B7roohIdbn
