We have received a hugely positive response and we are very grateful for the support. We hope it shows that this is not a controversial position - offering inclusive services is in no way incompatible with retaining the term “woman”.
The bpas Finsbury Park clinic this morning. No problems with anti-abortion groups before and now there are 45 protesters outside. This is a direct result of
@ukhomeoffice

We are incredibly disappointed to hear that Maria Caulfield MP, who supports the criminalisation of women who end their own pregnancies, is the new CCHQ Vice Chair for Women.
Alabama abortion law is utterly appalling. But remember- women in Northern Ireland still have no access to legal abortion care in their own country. We cannot condemn Alabama while women in the UK continue to be denied access.

BREAKING NEWS: A mother who was sentenced to 28 months for illegally ending their pregnancy is to be released from prison.
We echo the judges’ statements that this is a case that calls for compassion, not punishment, and are delighted with this decision.
Today, the US-based anti-abortion group 40 Days for Life will begin 40 day long protests outside 14 abortion clinics across Great Britain. All but 3 of these clinics are run by BPAS. We’re targeted for speaking out against this harassment, but we’re not going to stop.

The fact that Boots can offer a 50% discount for "Black Friday" demonstrates how much profit margin there is on emergency contraception.
There is no excuse for Boots to double the price once this "offer" runs out. 🧵
In Parliament yesterday Jacob_Rees-Mogg referred to emergency contraception as an ‘abortifacient’
While we highly doubt that many women would take medical guidance from Mr. Rees-Mogg, he nevertheless should correct the record as a matter of urgency.
WE DID IT!
MPs have voted by 215 to 188 in favour of maintaining women's access to at-home early medical abortion care.
Thank you
@liz_sugg
and all those Peers and MPs who have supported this amendment. This is an incredible moment for women's healthcare and women's rights.
This woman is being prosecuted under a law passed in 1861 which states that any woman in Great Britain who attempts to end her own pregnancy can face up to life imprisonment.
What kind of a society treats women this way?

We cannot – and will not – shy away from this as we continue to fight for a future where everyone can exercise reproductive autonomy and women are empowered to make their own decisions around pregnancy.

If you have had an abortion, please know that we are a pro choice country. Your decision to end a pregnancy is neither controversial nor up for debate.
To be clear - our services are inclusive, and we will build specialist pathways that meet individual needs, particularly for those who do not identify as women in recognition that pregnancy may be especially challenging.
We are here for all those who need us.

📢 On Monday we opened the first abortion clinic within a women's health hub. This is a huge step towards recognising abortion as an essential part of women's healthcare. Shout out to our amazing Liverpool staff for the work they have done, and will continue to do for women💜
Right here in England, women are being taken into policy custody straight from the hospital, facing years-long investigations, their properties searched, blood samples taken without consent, and people shouting "baby-killer." All for having an abortion.
It's time to act.
Today we are marching. The number of women facing criminal investigation under Great Britain’s cruel and outdated abortion law is increasing. It is Time To Act.
6 women have faced court for ending their pregnancies over the last 12 months. Stories like this out of Southampton represent an alarming increase in police interest in women. It’s time for MPs to urgently act to stop the criminalisation of women 🚨
Thank you to everyone offering support today. To maintain as calm an atmosphere as possible outside our clinics, we do not encourage counter-protests. We continue to believe that the best action you can take is to campaign for buffer zones - both national and local.

In many news reports, today's Court of Appeal judgment re: women's ability to access abortion care in heartbreaking circumstances post-24 weeks gestation is not being presented accurately.
So, here's a thread on what the legal challenge and today's ruling actually mean.
Earlier this year, our new Health Secretary voted to revoke access to at-home abortion care, and recriminalise women who end their own pregnancies without the approval of two doctors.
Activities we've seen today:
- shouting at women that they 'love them'
- stopping women as they leave the clinic
- approaching women repeatedly as they try to walk away
- following women
- accosting passers-by with small children
- pushing leaflets through car windows

🚨 We are horrified by
@thetimes
highly inaccurate headline today which is likely to lead to confusion and fear amongst women seeking legal abortion.
MPs *have not* voted to ban abortions related to Down's Syndrome. They are not 'to be banned'. An MP has made a proposal.
The issue emerged after an episode of
#CallTheMidwife
, in which a woman died from an illegal backstreet abortion. Viewers visited BBC Action Line for support but were unable to find information on abortion.
Abortion is not a side issue. One in three women will have an abortion in their lifetime. One in three. They deserve parliamentarians who take their wellbeing seriously, not those who would seek to impose their minority view on their access to healthcare.
Just called the police on 2 men who have been kneeling outside our Streatham clinic since 10am.
