Books have largely disappeared from kids' movies & television because showrunners fear alienating kids who don't read. But I promise you: if you write beloved books into your shows, if your characters read for pleasure, there will be young viewers who fall in love with reading.
Ever since this season of Stranger Things, I can't keep the copy of A Wrinkle in Time on my classroom shelf. All the kids want to read it now.
