Here's an article on this historic vote!
washingtonpost.com
The bill to make Washington, D.C., the 51st state is opposed by the White House and likely to die in the Senate.
We just made history! The US House just voted to end a 210-year injustice and to give equal representation to the 700,000 residents of Washington, DC. #DCStatehood #51State

Join us on Friday, June 19th, 10am for a public oversight hearing on the Board of Elections and the June 2nd primary. Thanks to all the voters (and those that tried to vote) for sharing their experience with me - and everyone can watch live on Friday here:
News: The D.C. Board of Elections says it will directly mail ballots to voters for the November general election. That's a change from the June 2 primary, when voters were asked to request absentee ballots. 92,000 voters did so, but some said they did not know it was an option.

@councilofdc It found that Evans had 11 ethics violations since 2014 and received over $400,000 for doing little to no work for consulting clients, most of which were 'prohibited sources' under the #DC Code of Official Conduct.

DC Fair Elections ought to help address systemic inequities in our elections, if candidates use it! But it’s no replacement for this kind of direct organizing: https://t.co/0o8K7x3I8Y

Public financing is a game changer for so many candidates who want to be accountable to DC residents, not wealthy donors and special interests. We’re proud to support #DCFairElex and excited to see its success so far!
In D.C., taxpayer dollars are now helping candidates run for office. Proponents of public financing says it levels the playing field between challengers and incumbents, and takes corporate money out of elections:
