The answer is rushed work.
They weren't given enough time to work on it so they had to AI upscale it without checking the files they created, not only that but they also copy pasted the code into a new system which broke many things causing texture glitches.

Current update causes a massive lag issue.
It makes it harder to navigate through conversations, sometimes it doesn't even load server chats and overall takes longer for any action to happen. Also video playback is completely f-ed.
