I spent a day at STMA schools as "Principal for a Day" recently, spoke with admins, students, and teachers.
A top takeaway: the union is barring paths for desperately needed teachers. Innovation that threatens their power, killed.
Everything's about the union, not the kids.

There are a variety of factors in school shootings, including the media attention on the shooters, which inspires others. And yes, the availability of firearms is a factor.

I’ve got 207 sick days. My district took away the biggest incentive to maintain a high balance (a buyout for year 30).
The other incentive for not using sick time is 4 personal days next year for perfect attendance. Use 1-5 sick days, & we get 2 personal days.
