When @wesstreeting talks about how doctors are being unreasonable for asking their pay to be restored to 2008 levels, let’s take into account that over the time doctors had a ~36% pay cut, MPs gave themselves a ~39% pay rise.

Is this value for money when half of them are pissed in the bar, not holding surgeries, not representing constituents and behaving like children in parliament? Interesting to know how this works out per hour. @wesstreeting can you see the hypocrisy of denying drs restoration.
@ian4downton I asked Grok what a back bench MP cost the taxpayer inclusive of salary, expenses, subsidies, back office allowance. 250k each, for a level of performance, acumen, worth at best 10% of that.

When students loans were introduced, there was minimal interest. What you borrowed, you paid back. What is the point in studying medicine anymore? Good pay and good career prospects used to make the early years bearable, now it’s intolerable. No jobs. ⬇️pay.Huge debt. No respect.
Saw today that after 3 years working as a doctor, extra shifts, long weeks, the 9% of my salary that goes to student loan repayments hasn't made a dent and my student debt has grown by £15,000 😂.

Why should pay of resident doctors reflect the private sector?.NHS doctors have total job security. Pretty much nobody in private sector has that. NHS doctors enjoy massive employer pensions contributions. V rare in private sector. NHS productivity is 20% below 2019. Private.

Can someone explain why, when the £200k + salaries of some NHS managers are questioned, we hear that they couldn’t possibly offer less as we need to attract the brightest and the best. But talk about pay restoration for Doctors and its doctors being ‘greedy’.
