This week I am celebrating being at Birmingham for a year! Amazing progress as we have launched two trials first in Europe! My main aim for the 2nd year is to get patients with pancreas and biliary cancer from their CT to first cycle of treatment having a pathway of 6 weeks!!.
Delighted to be starting as an associate professor today @unibirmingham and honorary consultant in HPB medical oncology @uhbtrust @UHBCancer. Continuing to build an exciting translational programme in pancreatic cancer and translational immuno-oncology.

Delighted to have the opportunity to present to the NIHR strategy board on Birmingham’s leading pancreatic cancer trial portfolio with infant in tow (inset day equals daddy day care).

I would love to see a real world evidence study of giving mounjaro or ozempic to newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients in the nhs. It would be a gamechanger for patients and the nhs.

Well said! How we have let postgrad training turn into this international free for all is incredible. Not sure why we need a review to do this. Why leave a whole generation of UK doctors dissatisfied.

The solution to this is simple. To change medicine away from being a shortage profession under UK immigration law and to prioritise UK medics. Complete waste of UK taxpayer funding here. No other country’s medical profession behaves like this.

I wonder how this would look if only UK applicants can apply in round 1!!! Everyone knows the reason for exponential rise in applicants and no other country in the world does this rubbish.
So far we have three specialties who have released the number of applicants for this years intake. All of which show an example trending towards exponential growth. This cannot continue and needs immediate intervention.

There really needs to be reform of medical jobs in the UK. Clearly there needs to be prioritisation like in every other country. Also there needs to be a massive expansion in GP registrars and jobs. Using non-GPs in primary care is such a false economy.
