Ironic since the 🇮🇹 Compromesso Storico happened exactly because of the 1973 🇨🇱 coup. In the end the PCI ended up supporting a short DC government without getting ministers, in an attempt to guarantee national unity without enraging 🇺🇸, but it died when Aldo Moro got killed.
@AmericaElige Btw the original historic compromise happened as a consequence of the 1973 Chilean coup: . Berlinguer realised that there was no chance of an Allende-style “Italian way to socialism” without it ending in a right wing coup, so he proposed an alliance with Christian Democrats.
