The Kardashev scale isn’t “sci fi world building” and anybody who says it is cares more about silly status games than actual science. However, it does have some issues, notably being unable to define energy usage meaningfully on Earth. So I’ve come the Dyson scale:

If they do this the program has been knocked back 5 weeks. Which is less than I would have expected. SpaceX are not messing around.

“Climate denial” does not mean denying the scientific consensus - science does not need such authoritarian protection - it means denying the political inferences Vince and his mates make from the science, which they falsely equate with science.

Good move from Ed, it’s time to tell it like it is. I’d make climate denial a criminal offense myself - given the incredible harm that it will cause, even by slowing down progress to net zero.

Your future self is watching you through your memories. He knows all your lies and your sins, and judges you for them. You’ll have to face him eventually. I wonder if this is where the idea of final judgement in Christianity comes from.

A lot of people are upset that “in real life, there is no Superman coming to save them”. Brother, all of us who fight for the children in Gaza and all of the people who lay down their lives in resistance to Israel are “Superman”. He’s an allegory for resilience and good.

So for all those people saying ‘you still have to pay the advance payment sum for Motability cars!’…. Why do you not actually have to pay the advance payment and can receive a grant for the difference? . Don’t think anyone has highlighted this yet.

You can buy a better iPhone for one twentieth of the cost, hire a model a nice manicure to unbox it for you, and still be a lot better off.

It’s time we make Usery, charging excessively high interest rates, federally illegal. This woman was charged a 573% interest rate on an advanced payday loan. She used it to go on a vacation to a water park. How is a 573% interest rate legal to charge in America, that’s insane

We are now halfway through 2025 and it's time for the monthly birth update. For the overwhelming number of countries that have provided data so far, 2025 will bring yet another significant decline of the birth rate.

My theory is that psychedelics don’t open your mind, they just tell you your cosmic role. If you trip and come back preaching about universal oneness and global neighborhoods, odds are the universe stamped you as hive tier. Worker caste. Psychedelically confirmed. For instance,.

U.K GDP is $5000 more per person than France, yet there isn’t a speck of litter on the streets or beaches of Brittany, where I’m holidaying, and, by 2026, the French will retire five years earlier than us. Economic growth cannot solve the problems of our unwell society.

We started the space age at -28 on this scale, with the 50mW or so of solar capture on Vanguard 1, and then got to -19 a decade ago. Starlink had pushed us up to -18. So unlike the Kardashev Scale this can meaningfully measure things we care about in the near term.
