I've written some musings on persuading people of the value of space and space colonisation - based on a taxonomy of the kind of objections I commonly encounter. I'd be interested to hear of other peoples experiences in this regard. https://t.co/qV9s6eJtvv

What are the actual reasons people oppose the colonisation of space?

Adding a new train line does not, in any circumstances, reduce capacity you silly NIMBY
@BearJFK @peterrhague Going faster than 125mph reduces capacity & time savings become ever more expensive to achieve smaller gains. Just get rid of the slow bits, increase frequency & have much better connections. It will save far more time on far more journeys.

Yeah, this isn’t about protecting children from harm. It’s about protecting politicians from dissent.
BREAKING: The European Parliament just voted in favor of banning social media for people under the age of 16. 483 MEPs voted in favor while 92 voted against. If it becomes law, people will likely have to use IDs to log into their profiles, making anonymous accounts impossible.

600 paracetamol tablets would kill anybody. You’re only supposed to take 2 at once

“The car accelerated even though I slammed the brakes” No, this basically cannot happen, in any car including a Tesla. What actually happens is that the driver gets their foot mixed up and was actually stepping on the accelerator.
Woman says her Tesla refused to stop—even after she slammed the brakes—and it drove her straight into a tow truck. “I could have died.” 🚙

How long is the ISS going to remain a viable project?
Multiple sources report a collapse of the service access platform at Site 31 in Baikonur — the only facility that can support Russian crew launches and ISS operations. More details on the failed structure: https://t.co/iHkoRmX5Ix

Basic statistics aren’t some kind of white tricknology. Why are you trying to insist on this nonsense?
I repeat, White people are the largest ethnic group among benefit claimants in the UK. You know this Rupert and you may have your ignorant followers fooled by using the 'per capita' distraction. The point remains- you use ethnic minorities as a weapon. Let me break this down

With typical European dynamism, we have finally released a map app in the year 2025. The USP is *checks notes* veiled antisemitism. Great going guys!
Remember TomTom? They've just released a FREE navigation app as a competitor to Waze and Google Maps. Tired of Israeli/American spyware? Switch to the European navigation app today! 🇪🇺

When you think being a bit of an edgelord at school is morally equivalent to joining ISIS.
Supporters of the man on the left, will tell you he should have forgiven for things he's done as a 15 year old boy. While telling you that the person on the right, should not be forgiven for what she done as a 15 year old woman.

UK motorists face multiple overlapping forms of tax: * Fuel Duty * Vehicle Excise Duty * Luxury Car Tax * Per-mile EV Tax (coming soon) In addition to paying VAT on everything. This is a microcosm of HMRC. Loads of petty taxes to avoid pushing up main rates.

She also doesn’t know how road maintenance is paid for - out of general taxation, which is why cyclists don’t pay VED. Well, they don’t pay it *yet*, I’m sure the Resolution Foundation has the MAMILs in their crosshairs.
Our Chancellor hasn't got a clue about when a car needs a MOT or how EV's will be monitored. https://t.co/eKyiByzCXh

Nice!
Romeus 1, the "green ring" of a rotating orbital station. From its size and selection of plants, it is purely recreational, which is a valid choice for people living in space for long periods. #space #art by gianluca finetti. https://t.co/gvO2ZcBHHs
