I stumbled across this, downloaded it, then lost track of where I found it. But, it's too good not to share. If anyone knows the original creator, feel free to drop a mention / credit.
Very cool info graphic some javascript array methods!
I’ve just signed an offer as a Senior Software Engineer at a billion dollar company 🎉🚀
To my fellow self-taught, School of Hard Knocks alumni:
👉*Anything* is possible.
👉 You are not an imposter
👉 Go get that 🍞
Just announced: Laravel Herd, a PHP Laravel development tool for 1 step setup. No homebrew, no other dependencies. Just PHP and composer available in a single step (using valet under the hood I believe)
Switch PHP versions from your menu bar, and includes shareable URLs 🤯
We closed on the PHP house today 🥳
I shed a tear pulling into the driveway. I remembered all the YEARS of nights struggling at my computer learning to code, often feeling like a failure and that I didn’t belong in tech.
But, I kept going.
& I’m so thankful I did.
KEEP GOING!
If you’re just learning to code, you’re not an imposter. If you’re writing code, solving problems, etc, then you aren’t pretending to be a dev, you ARE a dev.
And we are *so* lucky to have you. You belong here ♥️
I’m in awe of people who can work a full time job, raise a family, and also create amazing open source projects.
It breaks my heart sometimes that 99% of the code I’ve written is some company’s private IP.
I really need to get more involved in open source 🥲
One of the best patterns you can use in Laravel is the Actions pattern.
Think of actions as bite-sized single responsibility units of logic.
Examples of actions:
- Create a user
- Send a notification
etc..
Here's why they're so powerful 👇
This is a 🔥 package: It creates consolidated migrations based on your actual database structure.
❌ Dozens of migration files and/or sharing schema dump files after migration squash
🤌 Clean, consolidated create_table migrations.
And it supports all first-party DB drivers!
Alrighty, looks like I'm just about to ready to ship this 🚢
Dream is a package to implement common AI / ML tools into your Laravel app with zero setup / boilerplate. It supports AWS Comprehend, and I'm working on an Azure Cognition driver next. You can also build your own!
Automatic page-based routing coming to Laravel with Laravel Folio.
Just drop a blade file in a folder and see it in the browser 💥
No other boilerplate needed.

I learned to code on YouTube while sleeping in my car / a friends garage on stolen wifi during the Great Recession.
Today I’m a Sr Engineer at a billion dollar company.
It’s been a *long* journey, but it’s possible. I’m proof 👋
🌶️ take: DRY is a bad rule we should stop pushing.
It often leads to over-engineering for the sake of "maintainability" when often simply repeating things makes the codebase are more readable and maintainable.
DRY is a guide post, not a rule.
Over a decade ago I used to ride the bus and live in a garage. Today I’m building a half million dollar home.
Learning to code changed my life, and it can change yours. It took years. There’s no easy path. But the key to the door is persistence.
ITT: ppl realizing much of the tech world isn't X 😅
phpMYadmin is very much still used a LOT
Lots of the paying work out there involves working with tools like these because surprise surprise: companies don't switch frameworks every 6 mo like ur vercel app with no users lol
I love little utilities like this. Generate select forms from PHP enums, arrays and even eloquent query results, ready to return to Blade view, Inertia, or Livewire.
