@iamaponte The money is coming from updating these sites to more modern tools. But if you can't understand the original code, you can't update it. Since the overall number of programmers that can do that is decreasing, their salaries are increasing. I get 100K/yr to update Java to Python.

@Hitman1978 Laravel is still pretty popular and gaining steam from what I've seen/heard. Seems to have revived PHP a bit.

@iamaponte My favorite place for $$ is cleaning up the mess or Crypto projects that hired anon devs who were plain horrible

@iamaponte Can’t say no to a decent income. But you ain’t developing in Wordpress. Much like you’re not developing in Word or PowerPoint

@iamaponte While PHP is slowly fading away, it is STILL relevant and powerful language for web applications. It will be few years before JS will replace PHP (if ever). And absolutely you can STILL make money in WordPress dev.

@iamaponte My respect for WordPress has grown over the past few years. Especially seeing what @natmiletic can do with it.

@iamaponte I keep saying, and I'll say it again. If you want to freelance to gain some development experience, WordPress is the easiest way to get an opportunity right away. It's not a glamorous programming language, but you need experience to even get a chance in tech.

@iamaponte I got paid $1000 one time just to fix a date picker jquery conflict in a WordPress site. I don't think it's a good platform, but if you can work with it, you can still make a lot of money because so many people use it
