Some personal news, as they say! It’ll be tough leaving @IPPR as I’ve loved leading a fantastic team with huge impact. But I’m honoured & excited to be asked to help shape and deliver such a critical policy agenda at the heart of the new government. Can’t wait to get stuck in!
Congratulations to @carysroberts & @rachelstatham_ who have both been recruited into the Downing Street Policy Unit! We're sad to see them go, but delighted to announce that @harry_qp has been appointed interim executive director. @Voa1234 | https://t.co/SIUaDYv1lA

Big news for UK industry and the nascent CCS sector. If this package is enough to get projects to a final investment decision - and the noises from industry are positive - then it is huge moment in the UK's net zero transition.

It's absolutely devastating that Muslims and People of Colour are fearing leaving the house today because of the very real threat of far right violence. We can be better than this as a country, and we must be.

We (@cthomasippr and I) have just published a new report. We find that: The UK is facing a growing health crisis, impacting not only retirees but also the working-age population. More people are working through sickness, and the cost of this has grown by £25 billion since 2018.

As we imagined, the ABS was never going to be implemented. An unfortunate waste of time and resource. However, great to see the work of teachers unions reflected in pay negotiations. It’s a start towards raising the status of teaching again.
NEW: Teachers will receive 5.5% pay rise. £1.2 billion from government to cover funding of pay rise (unlike previous rises). Rishi Sunak’s Advanced British Standard (that would replace A-Levels) will be scrapped.

A few years ago I spent quite a lot of time in Harehills doing in-depth research with communities there. It was an area that faced lots of challenges, yes. But...

More good news for Lab on Net Zero. Every constituency bar 2 (Clacton & Boston) shares the view we should be moving faster on climate. Again, not a blank cheque - but shows you backlash to NZ still mostly confined to right-leaning media echo chambers. https://t.co/egyc8m7wGM

How does opinion map across Labour constituencies on the big issues likely to shape this Parliament? 🧵on some MRP research for @IPPR/@Persuasion_UK out, featured in @NewStatesman today. We find significant 'room for manoeuvre' on several issues, less so others. /15

Excellent, rapid work by @pathwithanr @IPPR on GE2024 turnout (lowest share of the population to vote since universal suffrage) Higher in places w/ big proportion of older people, homeowners - lower where Muslim population and people from minority ethnic backgrounds is high

One-half of adults in this country cast a ballot at the election. This is the lowest share of the population to vote since universal suffrage. The first steps to fixing this are straightforward. Our report "Half of Us" is in today's @guardian

1/ Delighted that @Keir_Starmer will meet with Mayors on Tuesday - sends the right signal that we are living in a new era. Having spent a good chunk of the last few weeks interviewing the Mayors and their teams here are a few thoughts on what is needed!
