In the 90’s, I worked for a childrens sleepwear company and designed the Ms. Frizzle pj’s y’all bought at target😅😂. You never now where your experiences will take you!! ❤️❤️soak it in. Everyday xoxo
When I fell upon this “under the heel” trick to keep strappy sandals up I was actually pissed off. Prior to learning the trick, I literally cut all my straps short on my lace-up sandals because I didn't have the patience to fuss with them all night. You live and you learn right?!
You can find the most beautiful robes in the lingerie department. I caved and wore mine out to dinner on a Saturday night. Not bad for something one should wear on the way to the shower. 😬😅
I found this vintage dress in Amsterdam and then saw one just like it going down the Gucci runway! As a designer, I understand how creatives take influence and absorb what they see. Alessandro must've seen it in some other vintage shop in the world. I find that so exciting.
My husband is a very low key guy. He does NOT like the spotlight 😬. LOL maybe thats one of the reasons we’re such a great team? After 22 years of marriage I can absolutely confirm that commitment is NOT about “completing” each other, but rather “complimenting” each other. ❤️❤️❤️
Same skirt, same family, same size, different look 😅. Isn't it great to look at something in a different light and see how it can work in different ways!
Black is sophisticated. Black is chic, black is sexy, black is serious. I especially love wearing all black when I take texture and shine into consideration. Some crazy pieces only look good in black. And I do love a good crazy piece. 😜🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
I don't claim to be an interior designer. I just follow my instincts. Whether it be dressing myself or dressing my home, I lean in on balance and color. Here is my navy blue lacquer kitchen…hope you enjoy!
We dropped Ivy off at her college dorm today. I am officially an empty nester & she is officially on her journey into adulthood. I'm filled with panic but I'm also filled with pride. Ivy is the bravest person I know. She knows who she is & will fight to sit well in her skin.
17 years ago I had a son who grew up to be a brilliant, kind, and creative person. My son now feels more comfortable in her skin as Ivy. The essence of who she is and who we are have not changed. I now celebrate the exact same phenomenal traits in my daughter. I am a proud Mom.
I so appreciate the shout out!! I must say it took 54 years of marinating to get to a place where I had the chutzpah to actually turn on the camera though 🙄😬😂
An extra special International Women’s Day in the Rockmore house. It’s the first year I get to share it with my daughter. As a trans girl, Ivy will walk in the footsteps of many brave and strong women who walked before her. I am excited to see where her steps will lead.
I like the idea of wearing naughty, sky-high boots underneath a full-coverage skirt. It's this little secret I have… until I spin around and – SURPRISE – you see the boots shining through the slit down the back of the skirt!
Ivy and I have done a few GRWM in the past year. This one was hands-down my favorite. I love both looks so much, but even more so I love sharing my closet with her. I'm learning new words and she's learning new styling tips. Win-win on so many levels ❤️💋❤️💋
Yet another Family Fashion Finds with the fabulous Ivy Rockmore 😊. I can't begin to tell you how much fun I'm having styling the same piece with my kid. So far she's beating me two for two 😅. Is it bad that I took a tiny bit of pleasure in watching her trip on her platforms?😜
So here's a little tip; if you want to add a couple of inches to the vertical department… Go the extra mile and try and continue the same line of color from tip to toe. Well, in this photo, it's waistline but whose counting 😅
To be honest, this one was not an easy share, but I promised myself in order to help use my platform for good, I need to show the rain showers in order for the flowers to bloom.
I love how the 90s have become the "hot" decade for GenZ. I think one's default "cool" decade depends on your age, hence the 70s for me. No matter the decade, cropped jackets will forever be a staple in my wardrobe. Denim, leather, this incredible puffer, I can't say no!
Ivy and I are doing a girls trip to New York during Fashion Week 🙌❤️ I'm so excited to have this time with her before she leaves for school. My only issue is she's getting into my closet...and looking better in everything I was going to wear 😂😅!
Teaching your daughter how to do a good red is a right of passage. Lucky for me, Ivy's lips are a perfect canvas. 💋

Green Machine: I love a good crochet moment for summer. This dress is so good because it looks just as great with sandals right now, as it will, with booties in the fall.
I cannot tell you how many people asked me about my little cropped shirt jacket! How fun is fashion?! Please take note I did find two important ingredients in the little mash up 1) Make sure your shirt is oversized 2) It seems to work more seamlessly with a collarless shirt
Same skirt, different cities! I splurged on this fabulous
@gucci
skirt and figured I needed to get some serious use out of it…so a little travel was involved. 😜😅
As a young designer in the 90s I looked to Vivienne Westwood for inspiration, affirmation, and for the courage to express myself through the clothes that I wore. There will never be another like her. RIP Dame Vivienne Westwood
The most treasured items in my closet come with a bit of history. My mother's hand me downs are particularly special. She must have had great taste, because her blazers, top hats, & chunky chokers never feel dated to me. True style is cultivated & curated in your heart first.
I know absolutely nothing about sports but I've been invited to my first
#SuperBowl
party! I’m rooting for the
#Bengals
because I love a good underdog and they happen to match my bag & bangles perfectly. 😊✨😂
I love how my look has evolved with age… Somewhat 😜. But I actually think this a relevant discussion to have. There is no reason for us to change the way we have always dressed just because of the number of years we've been on the planet. What I would say is listen to your gut.
The good news is Ivy's transgender clinic appt went great. The bad news is the clinic is likely to close in September due to Texas anti-Trans laws. Imagine if one of your loved ones was not able to get the medical help they need because of the government.

It has been such a gift to share my “girly little secrets” with Ivy. Like how there's something about your makeup routine. I find it meditative. It’s something I do for myself, just because. I’m glad she’s getting to experience the fun of this in her own way, at her own pace❤️
Don't box yourself in. That's how you find your personal style. We humans are fluid and ever changing. Why put added restrictions or stress on a place where we can express ourselves creatively? The world is stressful enough to take your wardrobe so seriously.
Again….I am not an interior decorator. I use the same principles I use to dress myself as I do to dress my surroundings. I like to play with contrasting shapes and eras. I like to stick to a color theme and I use a lot of vintage. ❤️❤️
Have you ever looked at a flower garden, or a mountainside, or a glacier, and not been in awe of its colors? Nature never makes mistakes in the color department. So if you're unsure of a color pairing, look to mother nature because she understands the assignment.
Don’t you hate it when you have that perfect white outfit but your shades are just the tiniest bit off? The trick is to throw in one more layer and focus the interest elsewhere. Then all you have to do is throw on the baubles and accoutrements for more distraction🙌🏼❤️!!
What I find most fascinating about these vintage treasures is seeing how contemporary designers interpret and bring them back to life. I mean, look at the interpretation of the
@Moschino
2022 dress! 😍
Neon. It’s a neutral….say what? A very bright yellow, acid green, electric blue, or fuchsia can be used to liven up tired garments. It's a little trick I use that can also work well with accessories like hats and scarves.
Christopher John Rogers is one of the design vanguards embracing color in a way I haven't seen for a long time. It's so refreshing to see saturated strong colors trending.
It was love at first sight with this
@Prada
coat. I saw my soul sister from across the pond
@trinnywoodall
going on about what I actually knew to be fashion gospel. It goes with everything, it fits over everything & it's good for any occasion. It went on sale…so there you go.😜
Mesh tops are very trendy right know so stock up! As usual, my video started off in one direction and then took a sharp left to Claire McCardell. She was a pioneer of American Sportswear. She would have loved this surprisingly practical mesh top.
This magenta is TO DIE FOR. Quick tip: If you're going to try these voluminous pieces, do it with a heavy shoe. A major platform or heavy boot works best to balance the volume and juxtapose against the extreme femininity.
This dress is a treasure that weighed down my baggage back from a trip to an Italian village on the Amalfi Coast. The chaotically beautiful linework of this piece was hand painted on the sturdy linen fabric. So, she's very very heavy and one of a kind. 🖤
Imagine having a child who needs important medication & it’s available to other kids but not your own. Trans kids don't sit well in their skin. Puberty blockers allow them to breathe until they figure it out. Their lives are not easy, why are we making it more difficult? I wonder
I love deep burgundy and fire engine red together. It's seriously one of my favorite color combos. This look is actually quite Mod. But there's a hint of old world Renaissance because of the color combo. Delicious.
An oldie but a goodie…here's a fast and easy way to define your waistline without using a belt! This really helps when you're wearing oversized shirts! You can say thank you now. 😜😜 XOXO
Happy

!! I wait every year with bated breath for a shamrock shake at McDonald’s. Some might say I have a screw loose, I say they’re just green with envy. 😜💚💚💚
There’s something about a head-to-toe botanical print I will never get tired of. I know there are a lot of flowers here, but they are blooming beautifully. 💐
Don't you just love when a new look comes together? When you have a lot of hair, you need to take a step back and think about collars and necklines. When you've got a lot going on in the shoulder, and you wear your hair down, your head can looks like it's squished 😬😂
Seeing as I’m going to be in NYC for Fashion Week on Valentine’s Day, I thought I would get my chocolate on a little early. 🥰💋 Sending you all of my love!
I find movie night extremely romantic. You have to be with the right partner to know that you'll both be happy with the same type of movie. It's cuddly and dark and you get to escape for a bit so who doesn't love that. May I just say popcorn and a cherry Coke. Thank you very much
Ho Ho Ho!! These looks are so fun I’m worried that I may be upstaging the tree! Whether you are feeling “red she said” or “green with envy”, have the happiest of holidays and a very Merry Christmas ❤️💋❤️ to you all
Blame it on my dyslexia, it's NOT monochromatic dressing, but rather TONAL dressing that gives you a few inches in height by not breaking you up in the middle. It's also very chic to dress in variations of a shade.
I loved my wedding. It was a glam outdoor bbq…so I knew the dress would work. I have enjoyed that bracelet for years, the dress not so much. But, I saved on the dress AND the bouquet. That makes me feel like I should reward myself with a pair of shoes I’ve been eyeballing 🙄😅
So delighted to be attending the

Can’t wait to see what freshness and fabulosity the house has in store. Every time I watch this video I fall more in love with my amazing palazzo pants designed by the UBER talented

Make your clothes work for you. Don't work for your clothes. As soon as I turned this blouse around and saw those colors against my skin tone I knew I couldn't go back. Remind yourself that you’re the boss! Manipulate your clothes to fit your needs and don't apologize for it.
As Ivy prepares to go to college, I can't help but think how lucky I've been. I don't cook, but I feel like when I put a look together, it resembles building a recipe. To be able to share that which I do best with my daughter these past 3 short years has been a true gift.
My grandfather always said that if you don't build a strong foundation your building is going to fall down. That's how I feel about all the pieces we need to purchase in order to make other garments shine — Invest in underpinnings because they just make life easier!
Blazers are body shifting magical tools. Choose a structured fitted blazer and you will instantly define a waist line. Choose one that's oversized and boxy and it will add an edge to any sundress. Invest in a cropped version to lengthen your torso. The possibilities are endless🙌
The French dress with subtle elegance that rarely screams. It’s the measured restraint that makes their looks so effortlessly chic. The Italians drink in La Dolce Vita. They dress passionately, with an exuberance that leans to a less serious aesthetic. Where do you lean?
The heat in Dallas is getting to me!! 🤪 I have no idea what to wear anymore. As soon as I get to where I’m going, no matter where I’m going, I know I am going to be freezing and need something. Thats when I thought of Carla’s Cape Confection. Try It out…and thank me later 😉
I will wear stylishly comfortable tent dresses and Birkenstocks with interesting accessories for the rest of my life. Don't ever apologize for your "look." Embrace and wear on repeat. Why do we fight what comes naturally? Dress

As a mom of a LGBTQ child I am so grateful that the world has changed enough that he is not ostracized in his school. We've made progress. There is still a long way to go. We only have 18 years to teach them by example. I pray that what we teach them is tolerance and acceptance.
I am BEYOND EXCITED to be launching Carla Rockmore X Amazon The Drop in the very near future! I wanted to create “forever pieces” that all age demographics would be excited to wear, and I am overjoyed by the result. I hope you are too ❤️❤️❤️

The easiest way to mix your prints is to have at least one of the same color in both. Once you've got that going on, then you can look at the scale and shape of the the print. When in doubt, mix in leopard. It works with anything!
Business casual as always giving me a pause. I'm at a loss for what it means. Maybe because I don't work in an office? Maybe because the parameters are too broad? I seem to do OK with some sort of set or suit but I always feel the need to throw in a splash of me.
There's no reason to buy into a trend if you're not feeling it. Taking elements of a trend, and peppering it in in your own way will allow you to stay current, while at the same time being true to yourself. I remember vinyl pants the first go around. I feel no need to revisit
Voluminous maxi skirts with defined waists are one of my signature styles. I'm more comfortable in a maxi skirt than in a pair of jeans. I wear them with t-shirts and I wear them with motorcycle jackets. What is one of your signature styles? Find it. Cultivate it. Enjoy it.
Pale pink pants are fabulously versatile. The color is surprisingly as neutral as a nude or a sand, but just a notch more fresh. Also, shapers are good for diffusing tucked in shirts as well as panty lines 🙌…who knew?!?
It’s somewhat comical that sunshine yellow and bubblegum pink are the dark horse of color combinations for spring. Don’t forget to experiment with color!! Surprise yourself! This outrageous color pairing is simply sensational. 💛💗
I bought this vintage skirt on Etsy because it reminded me of my grandmothers bedspread. Yes, it was gold quilted lame, and yes, she was all that and a bag of chips. I think before it got into me sweaty little palms, this skirt must have been the life of the party 🙌❤️🙌
Leos have a zest for life like no other zodiac sign! They are exuberant and colorful. They're great salesmen and ring masters…hence the top hat. I love that my zodiac series has serendipitously ended at Leo. This look gives me a reason to celebrate 🙌!!
I know I know… I bought something that is completely impractical, and I may wear twice all season. The thing is, I will wear this frothy confection once in spring, for the next 20 springs. And even better news is that it will make the outfit… Every time.
How’s this for a quick switch! The Carla Rockmore Day - To - Day Appliqué shirt works as well with your favorite pair of jeans for day, as it does for your chic little cover up at night! Win win 🙌🧡🙌
Stripes are going to saturate spring and summer silhouettes and this Depop find checked all the striped boxes boxes! I found this La Ligne winner with tags, in my size. AND it is the exact same color blue as my vintage snakeskin belt. Ain’t life grand sometimes?
