Today, I wanted to share a presentation that I gave during preseason in the 2021 season for the high school I was coaching.
It covers our team's approach to how we wanted to play in the 4-3-3 focusing on 3 phases:
- Pressing
- Build Up Phase
- Creation Phase
Thread⬇️
There are lots of considerations on match day as a coach.
One of the most crucial is the pregame warm up routine and how to best prepare your players physically, technically, and mentally.
Here's how I warm my teams up to perform at their best come kickoff:
Anson Dorrance is the most successful NCAA D1 soccer coach of all time, winning 21 of the 41 national titles ever played for.
He’s also famous for his “Competitive Cauldron” in training to develop players.
Here’s how I used this in my own sessions:
Rondos are an excellent way to develop teams and players.
But I wanted to find a different way to make them more competitive for my teams.
The answer: Promotion / Relegation
Here's how I utilized Pro / Rel on a daily basis with Rondos⬇️

Here's what I do at halftime with my teams to come out flying in the 2nd half:

2.5 years ago, I had the opportunity to watch a professional 1st team training session for the first time.
It was an eye-opening experience to be a part of.
