I've worked mostly on investigations for @RFERL the past 7 years. One that I can't shake from my brain was about a Russian man named Andrei Kobyshev. We tracked his mobile to show how Kadyrov's goons likely killed him in Chechnya's gay purge: https://t.co/okjW6qew74 Thread below

The plight of Chechnya's LGBT people is back in the news. So here’s a (longish) thread on the case of a Russian man who likely died in Chechnya’s gay purge. We broke the story 2 yrs ago this week. Authorities remain mum: https://t.co/okjW6qew74 His name was Andrei Kobyshev. /1

Today is Ihar Losik’s birthday—a @RFERL journalist, a father, and a political prisoner, jailed by a regime afraid of truth. He has been imprisoned since 2020, sentenced to 15 years for his work. May this be his last birthday behind bars. He deserves freedom—and so does Belarus.

One of Russia's leading foreign policy experts, best guy on China, @AlexGabuev of @CEIP_Politika is now wanted by the Russian state. This is not a badge of honor - this is bad news for Alexander. Yet it proves that his analysis hits the spot. https://t.co/C3PtOReqjY

Песня Radio Free Europe, заглавная на первом сингле R.E.M., записана почти ровно 44 года назад - и вот теперь группа ее перемиксовала и перевыпустила специально для нас. Приятно.

The treatment of detained Ukrainian civilians is one of the most brutal parts of Russia’s war. Roshchnya wanted to expose this system, until her own disappearance & unexplained death became an emblem of Russia’s violation of the laws of war w/@FbdnStories

Zelensky says the AFU captured two Chinese citizens who were fighting for Russia. I'm not surprised – back in February, we even chatted with a Chinese soldier who confirmed he had taken part in the war against Ukraine.

We also found many fighters from Nepal, China, India, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Cameroon, and other countries. One of the Chinese fighters, Vey Duan, even confirmed to us that he had been fighting in Russia but had already returned home.
