I check c-peptide fairly frequently to help discriminate diabetes sub-types (T1d/LADA/T2d), understand where people are in the evolution of T1D, or help predict remission from t2d prior to intensive lifestyle or bariatric surgery. Here is a study showing clearly that patients

On the "Fibermaxxing" and "Protein Overload" trends: Fiber is good. Protein is good. Don't worry about getting too much of either from food. My longer thoughts:

To be fair, in non T2DM populations, A1c is a tight range; its difficult to find correlations, even with causative factors, within tight/healthy ranges (independent of A1c). Also non-T2DMs may not primarily use CGMs for A1c support e.g., personalized response, engagement, etc
If you don't have type 2 DM, please put away your CGM. Why? There is no correlation between CGM metrics and A1c in the non-diabetic population. 1/3

BMI in the overweight category (BMI 25-30) shows the lowest mortality over the adult lifecycle, particularly as one gets older 65+. Now, if you are talking about the obesity range (BMI 30+), OK, then Im with you.
My spicy take on BMI is that overweight is overweight. You might be a “muscular” overweight but it carries risk.

Much respect to @SatchinPanda & his exceptional research career. Still, X posts inform people's nutrition choices. It MUST be clarified that mice respond differently to keto than humans. Eg: fatty liver improves in humans on keto, while glucose tolerance, like mice, is impaired
Despite the benefits of a Ketogenic Diet in reducing body weight, over long time, it can lead to dyslipidemia, fatty liver, and glucose intolerance in mice. https://t.co/9blGichjfX

As a liver doctor who spent his life’s work treating poor and underserved patients, I can tell you that many patients do not get tested at birth, and it can lead to a debilitating, life-altering condition for the rest of their life. It could have been prevented by a proven safe
From HHS “Hepatitis B testing should be done at the time of admission to the hospital for delivery for women who: •Were not tested earlier in pregnancy •Participated in injection drug use •Had more than one sex partner in the previous six months •Had a hepatitis

Empirically, this is not true. Not all mothers have prenatal care. Some get infected between testing in the first trimester and delivery. In some cases, the test is overlooked. If a child is infected at birth, they have a 95% chance of becoming chronically infected UNLESS, they
No medical reason to give newborns Hep B vaccine if mother is not infected. All mothers who deliver in a hospital are tested. This “scientist’s” fetish for vaccines not supported by the data

Since mitochondria are getting the limelight, I'll quickly revisit our work in ketone body metabolism & liver disease. 1) Humans with obesity & liver disease had ⬇️ ketones 2) Ketones had dose-dependent effects on muscle mitochondrial respiration. https://t.co/U0jmKhz9Xt

Look, I'm a pro-protein guy, but the messaging had gotten out of hand. You dont need THIS much👇 Subway ads push 50-60g of protein per sandwhich, pushing for the average person to eat more is nuts. I'm 240 lbs, bf% in the teens, and I sit at ~40g protein in my meals.

So... this is false. If you want elite VO2max, you need to train like an elite athlete. There's no techbro-hack way around human physiology.
VO2Max - How Walking Can Create an Elite VO2Max Many people think that the only way to raise VO2Max is by doing HIIT. But you can achieve a high VO2Max just with walking. Walking is arguably the superior way to build it 🧵
