This tentatively could be good. But before any wild celebrations, some clarity is needed about what has been agreed. First, I have seen nothing that indicates current casual staff will be guaranteed these positions.

This is absolutely laughable. There are nearly 8000 people employed at Monash and more than half of them are in insecure employment (casuals or fixed-term staff). Transitioning casual teachers to 5-month fixed term (semester) positions is not a solution. Shame on @MonashUni

It's July 2022, this has been in the news now for over 3 years, and nothing has changed. What a joke. @FrenchProfessor what are you doing to protect precarious staff from wage theft? You gave us a promise that it would not be tolerated.

Many precarious uni staff have a bit of reprieve during winter break. For some, this is a welcome rest but for others, it’s a struggle with no income. With cost of living on the rise, all workers need job security more than ever. Tell your MP & your union. You are a priority.
