Last week, an administrative law judge sided with General Iron's challenge to the city's permit denial. The shredder wants to move into the Southeast side, an area already suffering the ill effects of pollution. Today advocates spoke out against that decision! #StopGeneralIron

As the city appeals this decision, we can't help but think they might have a stronger case about General Iron's history of violations if they had not dropped the charges for *36 different violations* in a two year period requiring no admission of liability.

Mayor Brandon Johnson disagrees with ruling that operator should’ve been permitted for General Iron move to Southeast Side, will appeal judge’s decision and fight the case. Johnson has closely allied with movement on this fight, including having Olga Bautista on inaugural stage

It’s unconscionable for this administrative judge to overturn the decision to deny the permit. The Southeast Side made it clear that General Iron was not welcome in our backyard. Agencies such as @HUDgov and @EPA even deemed the proposed move an act of environmental racism.
