I've posted it before, but I'm reposting it so I can pin it in ;)
If you have any NES games I'm missing, I will trade you some of my own dupes and/or any of my circuit boards for them!
Have you seen orangeglo's FM cartridge? It's freaking neato. This is the only radio I own, other than my car radio I guess lol

As promised, to commemorate 2^11 followers, this is the official announcement of the MGBC giveaway! All you need to do is like AND retweet this single post.
I will pick the winner on Sunday, December 2nd, around 10 PM EST.

The Game Boy multicarts are finally done. Here's an Oracle of Seasons & Ages cart I made! (Label by matthewsmods on Etsy)
The multicarts can hold 2x 2MB or 4x 1MB games, and have a handful of different configurations for swapping games. More info below 👇
Finally, I can share my DMG Color (DMGC) with the world! This is an original Game Boy (DMG) console that plays both Game Boy *and* Game Boy Color games.
More info and link to the GitHub below 👇
This is the DMG Color, AKA, the DMGC. Essentially, it is a Game Boy Color running inside of an original Game Boy (model name DMG). This uses an original GBC CPU harvested from an actual Game Boy Color; no FPGAs here.
Pokemon Gold/Silver Multicart! Changes games with a button press. Tutorial video now available on my YouTube channel:

I get very annoyed with people who think TTYD fans are so toxic because we think the old games are better. Like, you can't force me to like a game I don't like.
I know a lot of you have probably seen this, but I haven't shown it off in a video yet. So, here it is, the MGBC-MBL-01, my take on a Game Boy Pocket Color. This is a Game Boy Pocket that can play original Game Boy *and* Game Boy Color games!
Info and link to the GitHub below 👇
One of the cool things with the multicart I made is that you can hot swap games without resetting the console, if you want.
What happens if we switch Pokemon versions mid-game?
This is my latest MGBC (Game Boy Pocket Color) build! Very pleased with how the two-tone theme came out.
Complete with a laminated screen and lithium-ion battery.
(And yeah, I finally got a light box for taking better pictures 😁)
Sibling moved to a new house, this was left in the basement from the previous owners
Probably because they couldn't find anyone who wanted to take it upstairs
be me on a monday night
graphics card dies
drive 45 minutes to the nearest microcenter the next day
buy $300 graphics card
spend an hour cleaning out computer and installing new card
finally
I can play Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 again
Uh, the buttons fell off my DMG. So I made a wireless controller with them to continue playing.
Conveniently also doubles as a SNES controller, perfect for simultaneously playing Super Game Boy 😁

And now for the latest entry in the "Hey Bucket, why haven't you finished DMGC v2.0 yet?" series
The MGBC-01 coming to a GitHub near you.... eventually!
PSA: when you're recapping a system - which shouldn't be something you do by default, only if necessary - do NOT use ceramics in place of aluminum electrolytics (avoid tantalum too).
I have no idea where this originated from but all capacitors are NOT created equal.
This Sony PVM-2030 is probably getting tossed
Too bad it's property of my employer and I can't take it home to take up space in the basement back room instead
Took some better pictures of my MGGC MGBC (aka the MMGGBCC) that I made a while back
This build is one of my MGBC boards with creations from eight(-ish) different Game Boy creators!

Decided to make my own Pokémon Trading Tool board to use with the Flipper Zero. All you need are header pins, decided to make it as simple as possible.
#flipperzero
It also works in a Super Game Boy :)
The box below the frequency number includes station information and the song title if one is playing. (I had forgotten to enable it in the options for the video I posted)
Encore une Game Boy Color qui revient de très loin : une nouvelle DMGC est née !
Une DMGC est une fusion entre une Game Boy DMG (la première) et une Color. La GB ultime pour moi 💚
Les PCB que j'utilise ont été créées par

One of the things I miss about retro gaming is drawing maps and writing notes. This is my map for the Second Quest of NES Zelda. This isn't actually from when I was a kid - I've long lost all of those maps and notebooks - but making this map was such a blast.
It looks like everything is running smoothly!! I still have a handful of tests to run, I at least need two minor revisions of the headphone and power board, but I think I'm nearing the end of this.
(This is going to be an original Game Boy that uses a GBC CPU for color support!)
Power cleaner mods are ubiquitous in the Game Boy modding scene. But how do they actually affect the audio quality? I decided to test them out. Results are here:
In order to retain impartiality, I have not added any analysis or personal conclusions.

Day 4, one of my favorite games of all time, is Link's Awakening. The very first Zelda I ever beat 100% myself. I have so many fond memories of this game.
And if you didn't realize, it's the main inspiration for my online alias :)
Yesss... It's the Bucket Mouse!

This is a TinyTendo TxROM cartridge. It can run NES games that use the MMC3 mapper.
It is currently programmed with Earthbound: Beginnings, released on the Wii U in 2015, which is a translated version of the original Mother game only released in Japan.
(And yes, the save works)
you know what grinds my gears
at first glance when I'm scrolling game lots on eBay, NCAA Basketball and Super Metroid look very similar and I always have to do a double take to make sure I'm not missing out on a great $60 discount
With nearly 1,700 entries, we have a winner -

I'll be contacting them so they can claim the prize. If they don't respond in 2 days, I will redraw :)

My grandfather passed away recently. A few years before he died, I had switched jobs and ended up working where he used to, he retired in the 80's. He always asked me about how my job was going and was pretty happy that I was working there as an EE just as he had done.
Just a preview of the MGBC boards. The black came in beautifully. Hoping to show off the green "special edition" later tonight if I can get enough time to work on assembling it :)
Consoles and Casks has released an update to his fork of my MGBC repo - he took the MGBC and resized it to be a GBC again! Added the IR back in for yall who love that kind of thing :)
Here's my latest build - the Modded Gameboy Gameboy Club Pocket Color build. The goal of this was to incorporate as many of the community's creations into one unit. I think it came out beautifully, just like the beautiful people whose creations contributed to the build 🥰
Someone sent me pics of their DMGC build along with a very nice email :)
"...your repo made the process very bearable, and provided enough information to maintain confidence in the assembly process. Completing this was very empowering for me, and I have you to thank for that!"

WOW! I passed 1,000 followers today. Thank you all for your amazing support <3
To celebrate this new order of magnitude of followers... here you go. The DMGC-01 v2.0. Thanks for sticking around with me :)
It's now CC BY-SA ;)

It lives!! The SNES TSOP adapter works! Replace your mask ROM with this adapter that has a place for two 29F016s (one on front, one on back) for a full 32 Mbit of space.
Oh look, a completely reasonable price for the third best-selling GBA game, without a box or manual, plus a ripped label
(I would have taken a better picture but I didn't want to get yelled at lol)

Hi! If you're looking to build a DMGC or MGBC, but have no idea how, don't know where to start, or have a question that you think shouldve been answered already, I have a great tip for you:
READ THE GITHUB
Please don't let the literal days of work I put into them go to waste 😭
I've posted a lot of Gameboy stuff for the past year or so, but this SNES cartridge board right here is still one of my favorites. You can make at least 90% of SNES games with this one.
Got some newer SNES stuff in the works too!
I got a hot plate! Maybe I'll shoot an unscripted Gameboy cart assembly vid.
Since these things are magic and my hands won't be in the way for the entire video.
New cartridge - Game Boy MBC1!
I'm not selling them on Etsy just yet. But I've fully open sourced everything on here in case you want to get your own made. (All projects going forward will be open source)
Working on MBC3 next.
The button is easy to press inside the shell, but not so easy that you can accidentally bump it. It's like an Everdrive, if you've ever had one with a button.
In this config, the button is the only way to change what game your playing, and it will reset the Game Boy when pressed
The GitHub repo has a ton of information, including detailed breakdowns of each board, as well as source schematic/board files and Gerber files!
I put hundreds of hours into this project, and I'm very pleased with the results. Enjoy :)
