If you're a creative company and you have directors helming huge franchises who are rapidly approaching retirement, not actively training up talent beneath them is a humongous failure of management.
Why Sakurai doesn't have one or more trusted protégés is beyond me.
@Rovio
"We hope those fans can continue to bring that passion to our other games which have been designed to be more psychologically manipulative and stuffed with more microtransactions."
Fixed it for you.
It feels like the moment Nintendo saw that their movie was on its way to becoming the highest grossing animated movie ever they were like "QUICK, GET IT ON STREAMING, GET IT ON BLU-RAY, WE HAVE TO STOP IT!!!" lol I don't get it
Tune in 2/17 at 2 p.m. PT for a
#NintendoDirect
livestream featuring roughly 50 minutes of information focused on available games like Super
#SmashBrosUltimate
and games coming to
#NintendoSwitch
in the first half of 2021.

I find it funny that no matter how much you INSIST this is to prevent smaller creators from being harassed, not one single human being on this planet believes you. For all we know you're being honest, but your history of favoring big corporations has permanently ruined our trust.
I humbly request that we leave the $70 Zelda discussion for tomorrow and use today to enjoy the fact that not only is this real, but they're pricing it affordably so more people will get to play it. 🥲
Microsoft bought Crash and Spyro, so now Sony is buying the studio that made Halo. Next I predict that Microsoft will buy Square Enix, then Sony will buy 2K, then Microsoft will throw mud at Sony and Sony will tell the teacher
BREAKING: Sony is buying Bungie, the maker of Destiny — another seismic gaming deal that comes just two weeks after Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard.
Bungie put Xbox on the map. Now it's part of PlayStation Studios. Filed to Bloomberg Terminal, hitting web soon
I think it's genuinely funny that they've got a new Zelda out in less than two months, but they're being so weird and secretive about it that they've resorted to marketing it almost entirely using the PREVIOUS GAME.
I've been wanting to say something about this as well. I usually avoid "YouTube drama," but this is in extremely bad taste and shows our community in a very bad light.
5,000 dead, this is not a fidget spinner type trend. "Which fictional character would survive the coronavirus?"

Super Mario RPG remake letting us switch freely between the new and original soundtracks is the most non-Nintendo thing I've ever heard and I'm exceedingly pleased
Played Smash Ultimate. Notes:
-R-flibbering is three frames slower
-Ike's warp chafe is now a soft dodge
-Pichu recovers for four frames after his upflap
-Quicker dinkouts
-Wavedogging is completely gone
-Mewtwo's down+A now waggles
-Mario wears a dress
I know I'm just gonna stir up a great big argument with this, but anyone who thought that was the "worst Direct ever" hasn't been watching Directs for very long. 3DS/Wii U Directs were these GRUELING presentations and you'd be lucky to get one solid reveal that interested you.
Interesting. I guess that means in several years when the game stops receiving updates there will be no way to experience holidays? Disappointing if true.
I legitimately want a Kirby game that takes place entirely within a Dark Souls-style medieval fantasy world filled with horrific monsters and I am not joking. Nintendo would never do it but my goodness it would be so amazing.
Okay Animal Crossing is great and all, but how many hours do I gotta spend digging clams and crafting bait and chucking it into the mouth of the river before I spawn even one single sturgeon? Only two more days to get this guy got.
The Treehouse guy just claimed that having one big connected world is a new feature, and that the "older games" have world maps.
I try not to be TOO snarky about all this, but it does seem like they've been ordered to literally pretend the pre-Sticker Star games don't exist.
This is why I will never, ever rest easy as a YouTuber. All it takes is the Algorithm thinking, "Hey look, a blue monster talking about Mario, this must be for kids" and my channel gets nuked. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed.
There's no real reason for a picture of a weird ledge in a house to spawn a bunch of memes, and next week this will be forever lost to history. But I think that's what makes it special.
I try to have a thick skin in general, some people are always going to hate me and that's okay. But when someone spreads a fake thumbnail that those people are going to assume is real...yeah, I'd be lying if I said it didn't bum me out a little.
But it is what it is, I guess. 🤷
If all it takes is this guy getting up on stage and being like "sowwy 4 tough company culture moment UwU here Diablo 4 doe" and everyone forgives Activision/Blizzard again I'm gonna lose it
The people who were saying "Even if Legends: Arceus is good you'll all hate it because it's Pokémon" had no idea how petty they sounded.
Now the people saying "Legends: Arceus is bad but you only like it because it's Pokémon" have no idea how petty they sound.
It's almost 2am. I am in bed. I will not go get my Switch and play Animal Crossing "just a little bit more."

3 y/o nephew's been having a blast playing Super Mario Odyssey. But today when he got to the dragon he instantly burst into tears. Got close to beating it but was too scared to try again, and when he found out the Odyssey couldn't leave until he beat it he cried for a half hour.
The wind has once more spoken to me about Nintendo's future. I'm calling it now:
Pikmin 4 will be announced in a September Direct and released next spring.
Save this tweet.
Nintendo sends AC:NH reminder tweets to Twitter accounts. One of them has the username Pikmin42020, creating the combination of words "Pikmin 4 2020 confirmed." People find this and freak out.
This is how desperate we are.
This is what Nintendo is doing to our poor minds.
Kids these days just get mythical Pokemon HANDED TO THEM! Back in my day we had to go on wild goose chases where we tried to push trucks, and in the end we didn't even get the Pokemon!
AND WE LIKED IT!!!
If you have save data from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!, or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! you can receive Mew as a companion in
#PokemonBrilliantDiamond
and
#PokemonShiningPearl
!
Speak to a madame in the flower field located on the southwest end of Floaroma Town to receive this perk.
This is Miyamoto. I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films. [1]
AAA publishers frequently spend millions of dollars on games that don't end up being as profitable as this one game by one guy and I love that fact SO MUCH
I don't want to get my hopes up because remakes have a slight disadvantage since there will always be people who don't want to pay full price for an "old game" or one they already own...
But if TTYD and Mario RPG outsell Origami King I'm throwing a party and you're all invited
YouTube: "Watch time is EVERYTHING! All your success hinges on it!!! Your audience watched 0.6% less of this video than usual, do better next time"
Also YouTube:
I can't stop imagining a world where PLA released now with more polish and content, and SV came next year and looked and ran like Zelda or Xenoblade. Everyone would be happy and The Pokémon Company would still make all the money in the world. One single year to save two games.

Okay, so apparently at the height of his career Idris Elba is going to start acting less so he can spend more time producing EDM, officially making him the coolest guy ever
Re-releasing old games to better prepare people for a new entry in a series, thus maximizing sales potential?
GEE I WONDER WHAT OTHER SERIES COULD BENEFIT FROM THAT
Get a look at

And wait…for real? The first two No More Heroes games are AVAILABLE NOW on

No More Heroes:
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle:
I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is one of the worst things to ever happen to gaming. If game mechanics are patentable, you bet the big publishers are going to start getting really really aggressive trying to hoard anything they can.
WB Interactive has finally secured the patent to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War's signature Nemesis system after multiple failed attempts.
You mean to tell me the one Nintendo-related presentation I skip because I'm not expecting anything big is the one where they reveal a new Pokemon Snap???
Also NEW POKEMON SNAP THIS IS NOT A DRILL FOLKS THIS IS REAL LIFE AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
Out of all the things missing from Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the only one I really miss is breeding. When I want to raise something new it's frustrating when the lowest level I can possibly get is like 60. How is there no way to at least lower/reset levels?
Game Awards highlights:
Reggie's speech about indies
Xbox continuing their legacy of horrible names
Muppets spoofing on Goose Game, then watching the heartfelt speech from the award winners and clearly making them uncomfortable.
Dunno bout you guys but that's enough for me.
Spent eight months battling an $82,000 medical bill for my appendectomy, getting ghosted by the hospital while receiving threats from them in the mail. It's been so awful.
Finally got the call today. Reduced to $7,900. The relief is so powerful I could cry.
Thirty years. Countless hours of watching the cartoons. Consistent pop culture exposure across many forms of media.
And I literally just this moment realized it's "Flintstones" and not "Flinstones."
UGH. Of COURSE Youtube is experimenting with not displaying video lengths. Anything this massive corporate monopoly can do to remove power from the user and better manipulate us into consuming exactly oh wait, it just wasn't loading right, there they are.
Full Nintendo Directs are usually on Wednesdays and they're usually announced two days ahead of time.
TOMORROW'S MONDAY EVERYBODY GO CRAZY AAAAHHHHHHHHH
