Agreed. @OCallaghanJim also mentions "archaic" in discussion w/ @CharlieFlanagan
https://t.co/QeskHMtcW9 We hope the minister + his dept. will work w/ everyone trying to move this forward. The "current arrangements" have now lasted 11 years #giveusthenight

Jaysus, the licensing laws in this country are archaic. #GiveUsTheNight

While 4 out of 5 people in @CorksRedFM FB poll support staggered closing, a couple of publicans are against it. Post-midnight options in Cork are severely limited and need operators with a vision to enhance them, through a licensing system that helps all.

It's the smaller players that often take the biggest risks and a similar scheme in Ireland would be welcome. We'd also add unfunded community-based radio stations into it, who are also the "grassroots" of the music scene

The Supporting Grassroots Live Music project grants will give between £1000 and £40,000 to successful applicants.

Very positive to see @GiveUsTheNight engaging in talks with government & cultural representatives from across Ireland to discuss how we can change Irish nightlife. Also great to see positive coverage of this on Irish national news @rtenews
We had a very positive meet-up yesterday, led by Minister Josepha Madigan and attended by various representatives throughout arts and culture in Ireland. Check the playback to the Six One news story here https://t.co/PsEuRIND6F

We were very happy to hear of the emphatic response Erica and other speakers had at the annual @TheUSI Congress yesterday. A motion - drafted by @Michelle_Byrne_ - to support our campaign, was unanimously passed 👏
Was delighted to speak on #GiveUsTheNight motion today. It’s so important we fight for new licensing laws for nightlife in Ireland. More places being closed every day and more jobs being lost. Current SEO system needs to be abolished. #USI19 @GiveUsTheNight

Excellent piece focussed on some of those from the queer community who are invigorating Dublin nightlife, and how a recognition of club culture + sufficient amount of suitable spaces must happen @MotherDublin @GlitterHoleDub @GraceClubDublin @tonie_walsh

Although the economy of the Irish capital is stacked against them, a host of newly started LGBTQ+ clubnights are vying to keep its party scene alive

Most telling part of that article today is Michael Wright feeling safe enough to make good points about nightclubs (that he never made before), 5 mins after quitting running a club. Tells you a lot of the situation + owners who won't 'rock the boat' for fear of repercussions

Real words beyond the music
An historical fact in 'dance music' - many of our greatest producers, the most talented people out there, suddenly quit making music. We all have a duty (I include myself in that) to watch out for it, and do what we can to support and show respect/encouragement as often as we can
