The BPPA continues to stand up and fight for Boston’s Finest as evidenced by today’s full page ad in the @bostonherald . In it, we remind our elected officials to craft legislation that will help, not hurt, the hard-working men and women of the BPD.

Sadly, one of our officers had a bad experience @AceHardware store in Allston today. While in the store, an employee stated, “I smell bacon.” When the officer asked for an apology, he was told there’d be none. In response, items purchased were returned and a customer lost.

If you were driving home on the Jamaicaway last night and happened to see a guy changing a tire for a complete stranger who looked in need of a hand, that was an off-duty @bostonpolice officer. Practicing a random act of kindness. Seeing a chance to help and then seizing on it.

Shocking. Kendra wants to blame BPD instead of taking responsibility. Whether driving 30 or 60 doesn’t excuse the fact that she crashed into a house while driving an unregistered/uninsured vehicle on a REVOKED license with a child not wearing a seatbelt.

Where is the outrage from elected officials when a 29-yr-old police officer is gunned down in the line of duty? Politicians who choose silence should be ashamed. When the police are not respected, no city is safe. The attacks vs cops must end. Losing PO Ella French is a tragedy.

While recovering 2 guns, a knife and a machete at Mass/Cass, BPD Officers had to take evasive action to avoid the hundreds of open, uncapped, disease-filled hypodermic needles. Said one officer, “It’s ridiculous. A first-responder’s gonna get hurt. The city should be ashamed.”

Less than 2 days after 6 @BOSCityCouncil members voted to cut $42 million from BPD budget, a BPD officer is shot. To be clear, we’re sick and tired of elected officials who plot to defund the police, weaken public safety and refuse to say a word when one of our officers is shot.

Teen violence in the city is out of control. BPD officers are overworked, understaffed and tired. BPPA President Larry Calderone is calling for more officers after violent weekend, “We need hundreds of officers and we need them tomorrow.”

The @BostonGlobe anti-police bias on full display yet again. The 1st sentence says it all. Somebody please tell the reporter police officers involved in fatal shootings aren’t killers. Confronting armed suspects is never easy. Being referred to as a killer is beyond insulting.

Whether it's South Bay, Downtown or, now, Hyde Park, the brazen teen violence continues. As the likes of Lara/Arroyo/Mejia remain silent on the violence, our short handed officers keep working hard to keep our city safe. 3 more teens (ages: 15, 16, 16) arrested for Armed Robbery.

When you tell highly impressionable young people it’s okay to disrespect the police and there are zero repercussions for bad behavior, this is what happens. Multiple shootings forcing hundreds to evacuate Revere Beach on what should have been a peaceful Memorial Day Weekend.

Revere Beach is still shut down as police say they are dealing with "sporadic fights." A law enforcement source tells Boston 25 three people suffered gunshot wounds and multiple juveniles are in custody. New details:

More teen violence in Boston. 2 teens under arrest after attacking Macy’s security guards with a knife. This is what happens when elected officials like Lara/Arroyo/Mejia/Anderson tell young people it’s okay to disrespect authority.

#ICYMI : If ever there were a profile in courage and common sense, @RyanFattman gets our vote. His speech on the floor of @MA_Senate had police officers in tears. To be clear, there’s nothing unconscionable about dialogue and debate.

So, the same elected officials who have been working to dismantle and defund the police now have the audacity to say police aren’t doing enough? The same pols who’ve done everything they can to weaken this police department are now pretending none of the fault lies with them.

Seemingly lost in the conversation about police reform is the fact that men and women of BPPA make up one of most professional, progressive police depts in the nation. So, when elected officials use an incident a 1,000 miles away to justify reform here, the insult is obvious.

For the grace of God, a police officer wasn’t killed. We say it all the time. The disrespect and physical violence directed towards police officers must stop and elected officials need to echo the message. It’s never okay to hurt or harm police officers.

Another police officer dead. 30-year-old @SalinasPD Officer Jorge David Alvarado Jr. was shot and killed during a traffic stop on a Friday night. Again, we ask, “Where is the national outrage when a police officer is senselessly killed in the line of duty?”

One of our officers recently asked an elected official if he knew how many police officers had been shot and killed in the line of duty in 2020, the elected official’s reply: “I’m really not sure, but would I be wrong to say less than ten?” ANSWER: Yes, you would be.

Seeing police officers, including BPD SWAT, rush and run into harm’s way as they did yesterday while responding to the active shooter threat in Braintree should remind all of us that the overwhelming majority of police officers work hard to protect and serve each and everyday.

Here’s a thought. Maybe the oversight office isn’t getting the foot traffic they had hoped for because the police misconduct and misbehavior they promised to address isn’t nearly as widespread or rampant as they had originally thought.
