🚨 (1/4)
We're back!
It's been an interesting few weeks, but today I am thrilled to announce that
@ShoreSportsNet
is under new ownership and
@Matt_Manley
, Steve Meyer, and myself are officially back in action.
Tulane freshman tight end Alex Bauman, a Red Bank Catholic grad and the 2021
@ShoreSportsNet
MVP, hauls in a 6-yard TD to give the Green Wave a 46-45 win over USC in the Cotton Bowl.
Our thoughts this morning are with Marlboro’s AJ Schwartz (leg injury) and St. John Vianney’s Aaron Van Trease (neck), who both suffered significant injuries last night. Praying for a full and speedy recovery for both young men.
Amazing inner strength from St. John Vianney freshman Nico Diaz, reaching the Region 5 106-pound semifinals as the No. 6 seed after his father passed away early this week.
Some personal news (1/3):
I am now a free agent.
Yesterday was my last day at the Shore Sports Network, as Townsquare Media has decided to move on from the brand and most of our small crew. It's a disappointing day, for sure.
2X STATE CHAMP
Brick Memorial’s Evan Tallmadge hits a 5-point move with 15 seconds left to win 7-3 over Roxbury’s Luke Stanich and claim the NJ 120-pound state title.
126: Scottie Sari just blew the roof off this place with a 2OT pin over AJ Falcone at the 7:44 mark. Southern leads 15-12 through seven bouts. A huge turn of events.
Bill Bruno was many things to many people; coach, mentor, confidant, leader, friend.
Above all, he was just a great person. We're really going to miss him.
@ShoreSportsNet
2X STATE CHAMP!
Brick Memorial’s Anthony Santaniello completes a tremendous career with a dominant 10-0 major decision over Mount Olive’s Jack Bastarrika to win the NJ 132 state title.

Brick Memorial is the first team in Shore Conference history to have four state champions in the same season and joins High Point (2008) and Bergen Catholic (2015 & 2016) as the only NJ teams in the modern era to accomplish the feat.
What a day for New Jersey.
Rider wrestling has its first national finalist ever.
Rutgers wrestling has three All-Americans in the same tournament for the first time ever.
Rutgers men’s basketball just won an NCAA Tournament game for the first time in 38 years.

Hearts are heavy around the Shore as we mourn the passing of Jared Crippen. We send our deepest condolences to the Crippen Family,
@BMHSwrestling
,
@BMHSBLAX
and the entire Brick Memorial community.
Extremely saddened to hear of the accident that claimed the life of Manasquan’s Donny Klein.
A former football and lacrosse standout and later coach for the Warriors, Klein was currently an assistant football coach at TCNJ.
A devastating loss for the community. RIP big fella.
There it is! Nick Suriano has done it! He beats Daton Fix, 4-2 in OT, to win the

@RUWrestling

Anthony Santaniello getting interviewed by Bob Badders and Steven Falk. He hugged each reporter after the interview. After Anthony walked away they both exclaimed that Anthony is simply "The best". 😊

Congrats to the 14 boys state champs, 12 girls state champs, 5 team state champs and every wrestler brave enough to step onto the mat and give it their all.
Until next year! ✌🏻
Assuming I can add correctly (big If true), the Shore Conference had 20 region champions crowned today and will send a total of 81 wrestlers to the state tournament.
Some good injury news to report.
Marlboro’s Matt Cassidy, who left today’s game vs. Jackson Memorial on a stretcher, was checked out at the hospital and discharged, according to his father. He’s doing well and could be back next week.

Completing a Cinderella run for the ages, Brick Memorial junior Brody Elk wins the District 23 144-pound title with a pin over Point Beach’s Jonah Bowers in the final.

The Caseys win the defacto Shore Conference championship game to clinch the American Division title and stamp themselves as the undisputed No. 1 team in the Shore.
I urge those who have homes at the Jersey Shore to NOT go to them at this time.
The local infrastructure, especially the health care infrastructure, is not prepared for the influx of part-time residents. Please stay at your primary residences.
RBC’s Sabino Portella shakes of his QF loss to win by tech fall in the blood round at 175.
Then, Lorenzo Portella pins Delsea’s Rocco Bennett to clinch a state medal at 285. The Portella brothers will both be on the podium.
I think that calls for a pizza party at Enzo’s.
An absolute legend of a coach and a great man. I was fortunate to cover his teams during his time at RFH and they all won with class and strived for excellence, a reflection of their head coach/defensive coordinator. Our thoughts are with the Schulte Family and the RFH community.
It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of Coach Jerry Schulte. What he meant to our program pales in comparison to what all of his players and coaches meant to him. He was so incredibly proud of his time at RFH and will be greatly missed. Love you coach.
FINAL: Freehold 51, Nottingham 34.
Freehold QB Ashante Worthy rushes for 406 yards and 7 TDs on 32 carries and throws for 198 on 14-of-17 passing.

The term legend is thrown around a lot but John Madden was a true legend - as both a coach and a commentator.
For many, like myself, he was a huge part of their childhood. RIP to one of the all-time greats.
On ESPN it’s Ocean Township grad Kenny Pickett leading No. 23 Pitt.
On ABC it’s St. John Vianney grad Anthony Brown at QB for No. 10 Oregon.
And at Air Force, another SJV grad, QB Haaziq Daniels, pilots the No. 1 rushing offense in the nation.
💪

Coles’ 42-yard FG attempt is no good and No. 1 Red Bank Catholic holds on for a 14-13 win over No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven in an instant classic. What an unbelievable game.
