This is looking like it will be another whopper of a flu season in the northern hemisphere as China now finds out. Clearly they’re dealing with a nasty H3N2 subtype that’s evolving quickly and infecting their vast population rapidly.

Bird flu surges amid a scaled back response "Absolutely we're going to see human infections, just like we did a year ago," says Seema Lakdawala, a virologist at Emory Univ. who studies bird flu. "Nothing has changed substantially to suggest otherwise." https://t.co/qjzvPhq6Fg

Migrating wild birds are spreading the virus to domesticated flocks, increasing the risk of eventually seeing a human outbreak. Scientists are troubled by the muted federal response.

SARS-CoV-2. It’s not a winter virus. It doesn’t only affect old people. It doesn’t have a low mortality rate. It’s deadly and disabling. 😷

Back in the early stages of the pandemic, I was shouted down for warning that long covid would cause tens of billions of pounds of damage to our economy. Yesterday the BBC put the figure at eighty six billion.

@AutonomicBrad @BirdieBittern Type 1 diabetes is not typically associated with EDS (but can mean other autoimmune disease will develop such as thyroid/celiac). Covid itself however is now associated with new T1D- even in adults.

@BornFree_isms @BirdieBittern hEDS is the only type of EDS that isn’t currently testable genetically but hopefully that changes soon. Here is a potential linkage that I spoke of.

@AutonomicBrad @BirdieBittern I have new T1D (from Covid), they initially tested for additional autoimmune. Having known a number of T1D’s I’ve never heard of this. Did your mom have obvious symptoms?

@BirdieBittern AML is a devastating diagnosis for anyone but particularly someone this young🥲. I’ve lost 2 people to it. A friend has an indolent return of a chronic lymphoma. Her mRNA shots might help to keep it that way. I hope so. 🙏🏼

@BirdieBittern It WAS in her head, just not like that…so many people are not going to survive these conditions… Our medical systems have become so warped by COVID denial, “brain fog”, & paranoid beliefs like all patients are malingering drug seekers—they’re no longer functioning as intended.
