But here’s the thing about Kyiv: even today — especially today — it’s fucking amazing. And no one there is giving up. No one is too important to care. Only too arrogant to understand what actually matters.

They don’t just fight for themselves. They fight so you don’t have to. So your family doesn’t have to. So you can keep the luxury of finding it all too “uncomfortable” to watch. Today you live your life. Ukrainians wonder if tonight theirs will end.

Maybe it’s radical. But maybe the west should care before we have to. Today you watch movies while Ukrainian filmmakers fight on the front lines. You eat in restaurants while Ukrainian chefs fight. You listen to music while Ukrainian musicians fight.

Or maybe just listen to Ukrainians — voices ignored while the West talks about their future. They’re not put on panels. Not invited to events. They’re overlooked while people soothe their conscience with donations to the Red Cross.

If you think distance means you don’t need to care, you’re an idiot. It won’t end with Ukraine. Ask the Estonians. Lithuanians. Latvians. Finns. Moldovans. Or the Georgians — invaded 17 years ago, still going.

You’ll never know the names of the dead. Western press won’t fit them in the footnote they’ll afford this. And why should you care? You get to look away, never thinking of the woman who burned alive last night while you slept in safety.

And that was just Kyiv. A city under attack once more an hour later. As people got up and went to work, to school, to clear rubble, to pull bodies from ruins, to mourn — while russia tries to kill again, like it’s a sport.

Nine hours of drones and missiles. Nine hours of hiding in shelters. Schools, hospitals, nurseries destroyed. Families torn apart. Children killed in their sleep — their dreams, their futures gone.

Imagine if this was London. Or New York. Or Los Angeles. Or any city you think is worth your time to care about.

The St. Paul police chief is on CNN right now talking about how the police visit schools and help them identify places where they might be able to barricade doors or take precautions. Fuck all about actually just stopping shooters getting guns in the first place.

Whichever Labour MP said this and is too cowardly to put their name to it should resign. This is quite literally an admission you're voting based on personal gain rather than what you actually believe in or what's best for your constituents.

There’s only two conclusions that can be drawn from @FollowTheCow platforming Navalnaya — either they’re ignorant to her and Navalny’s imperialistic views, or they don’t care. Maybe @EdABartlam and @charliewoody can clarify which it is?.

It's easy to watch from afar. It's easy to say "not my president" while Trump hands a souvenir to Putin in your name, to laugh at Zelenskyy calling out a journalist you don't like, to say you stand with Ukraine --. But none of it actually stops russia. None of it saves lives.

A lot has been said about Ukriane, about russia, about peace in the past week. Right now, this isn't what peace looks like. Putin does not want peace, and it takes outright naivety and the will to be ignorant to believe he does.

I messaged @KateLeschyshyn during a bad attack last month. She replied and said she moved to the hallway, slept a few more hours, then got up and went to work. Kate works for @BackAndAlive - they do more to take down drones and save lives than pretty much anyone.

At this moment, Anna is sleeping underground in a bomb shelter in the middle of Kyiv. Across Ukraine, millions are doing the same. The entire country is under attack right now. Drones, ballistics, supersonic missiles, glide bombs - the whole lot. All from russia.
