@LikeOldTat My (perhaps unrealistic) hope is that this awful incident prompts a bigger discussion about: • Severe mental illness and stigma • Proper healthcare - assertive outreach • Sensible legislative safeguards • Sensible joint working with police

This goes entirely against the ethos of my field Assertive Outreach Even a rudimentary understanding of severe mental illness is enough to know that some people who are very ill either can’t/won’t engage Engagement is a two way street and removing support is simply unethical

Let's make it clear: living on the streets is not a ‘lifestyle choice’ - it is a sign of failed government policy. No one should be punished for being homeless. Criminalising people for sleeping in tents, and making it an offence for charities to help them, is unacceptable.
The British people are compassionate. We will always support those who are genuinely homeless. But we cannot allow our streets to be taken over by rows of tents occupied by people, many of them from abroad, living on the streets as a lifestyle choice. 1/4

Why on EARTH didn't @NHSuk @GOVUK just start with *anyone vaccinated in groups 1-9 is eligible for a #CovidBooster @ 6+months* (then move onto others @ 6+months) instead of making it SO complicated?! 🤷♀️ Allowing JCVI to mess with criteria has really f*d it up! #AsthmaticsAtRisk

We won’t have a normal Christmas & to suggest otherwise is unhelpful. Millions with asthma not currently eligible for a COVID booster but could be if the flu jab list was used to capture those currently being missed. A simple, helpful measure to protect many 🫁 @10DowningStreet

Asthma UK is concerned that all asthmatics under 50 don't appear to be included in the Covid booster rollout. That was the initial plan over the summer and it now seems JCVI have reversed course on that.

#JCVI have once again removed asthmatics from the covid booster program. Despite 1 in 10 covid deaths having asthma. And scientifically proven increased risk of hospitalisation and long covid. They were going to include "influenza list (asthmatics)" now removed.
