If we want sustainable organisational change, which group is more important? (a) People who are active in response to the change (even if they are resistant); or (b) People who accept the change? Newly published research suggests (a); it is more important to get people active in

Your research paper shouldn't take 6 months to outline. Most junior academics overcomplicate this process. Here's a simple lo-if mind map I've used:

I'm on PEPFAR & 6 NIH awards, all on HIV. Besides me, the NIH awards fund the work of >200 researchers, admin, implementers & trainees in 🇺🇲 🇳🇬 🇬🇭 🇨🇲. For some, we've done work yet to be paid for. It's so hard to get NIH grants. Not sure where 90 day freeze takes us. It's tiring.

We know now that what they're coming after is not one form of thinking. It's not Black history, it's not intersectionality, it's not critical race theory. They're coming after the entire infrastructure that has been created from the civil rights movement.

Kimberlé Crenshaw emphasizes why the current attacks on diversity, equity & inclusion aren’t new, “Just like the fire seemed like the devastation came from nowhere, & they might think that what we're looking at right now came from nowhere. The conditions have been set for years.”

How to write a grant? 1. Write it for the reviewer, not you, the applicant. 2. Communicate in stories. 3. Make your story cohesive—leave no puzzling gaps. 4. Make your story resonate to keep the reviewer reading. 5. Accept chance and noise in peer-review. https://t.co/wHZ065DNlm

You've spent months on your research, only to realize you used the wrong method. Ouch. Research methods confuse most people. I see more boring, unappealing, and standard explanations by the day. Because it's challenging to understand them all. It requires many skills. Like:

Stephen Jay Gould’s concern is as important today as it was in 1980. Brilliant people, with the potential to make world-changing scientific discoveries, are living and dying in poverty, without ever getting the chance to nurture their talents. 26/N
