Is there any wonder why retention & recruitment is a problem. Low income, poor shift patterns, long working hours, increase in assaults & being investigated for protecting society & simply doing a job. A job like no other where our officers run towards danger.
Many of our colleagues have not yet received their 1st vaccination. Today we hear the PM talking about 2nd vaccination & vaccination certificates. Across policing officers still remain at risk to this virus, but still there is no priority to vaccinate the frontline.

Statement from
@BTP
following the
#LondonBridge
attack. One of the brave individuals who stepped in and helped to detain the suspect is a colleague of ours. He is being supported by our reps, amongst others:
This evening our hearts go out to the family and friends of Inspector Chau See, who passed away this afternoon.
We add our condolences to the many messages of support his family are receiving. It's clear just how loved and respected Chau was within BTP and beyond.
Our thoughts are with all our colleagues
@BTP
and many other Home Office forces who are out this Easter weekend dealing with anarchists who see fit to incite violence against those who protect society. Absolutely disgusting, these people should be truly ashamed.
Tonight not everyone will be watching the cup final England v Italy. Many of our colleagues will be on duty policing this special event. They are there to keep fans & others safe and to prevent disorder. We wish them all well and hope they all return home safely.

The 7/7 bombing resulted in the deaths of 52 people. More than 700 others were injured; many bear scars today.
15 years on we hold those caught up in these devastating attacks in our thoughts.

Well done Gary and Stuart, what an incredible effort - especially in such unpredictable weather! Such an important cause 👏
@PTSD999
Devastating news. John’s loss will be felt throughout the force. We are supporting his family. Thank you for your kind words, we will ensure they know how much John will be missed.
It's with great sadness that we're reporting the death of an officer due to Covid-19.
DC John Coker, 53, passed away last night. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
John will be greatly missed across the Force 💙
Today our thoughts are with DC John Coker's family as he is laid to rest. John worked in the CID department at Euston. A calm and gentle man, he is remembered very fondly by the colleagues he worked alongside for more than ten years.
There will be greater numbers of BTP officers out on the network over the weekend. These aren’t ‘extra’ officers; these are colleagues whose precious days off have been cancelled.
We have the utmost respect for
@BTPSpecials
and see the value they bring. They are warranted officers who face the same risks and challenges as regular officers and deserve the same support, representation and protection.

@BTP
PC Wayne Marques receives The George Medal for great bravery.
Armed with only his baton, he was severely injured whilst taking on three terrorists during the
#LondonBridgeattack
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send good wishes to our colleague who was attacked with a knife outside Ilford train station last night. We will do all we can to support him, his family and his colleagues.
Twelve of our colleagues have been assaulted this weekend, including several on football duties. Welfare support is being offered and put in place for those who would like it. To a great or lesser extent, every Monday morning is the same and it's just not acceptable.
Today marks three years since the terror attack at London Bridge and Borough Market. Eight people were killed and more than 40 were injured, including one of our colleagues.
We're keeping everyone who was affected by this shocking incident in our thoughts today.
Liberty has taken a stance but appears unwilling either to enter into a conversation about spit guards or suggest alternatives. Our colleagues deserve protection from the vile and degrading behaviour of the minority who choose to spit.
At least 30 police forces in England & Wales now use spit hoods. They are dangerous, degrading and unjustified. They have no place in the future of policing and must be relegated to the past.
Man handed suspended sentence over 'violent struggle' at Sheffield railway station that left police officer with fractured skull. What message does this send to officers?!
In 1917, Margaret Hood made history. Not only was she the first female police officer on the railways, but she was sworn in as a Constable with the same powers as her male counterparts. This made her one of the first in England...

Congratulations to our esteemed colleagues William Bryden OBE, Richard Gill MBE, PC Jessica Bullough QPM, PC Mark Renshaw BEM, PCSO Jon Morrey BEM, PCSO Lewis Brown BEM and Alan Smith BEM.

There isn’t a public sector worker that doesn’t recognise the economic context we are in. So many - including our own colleagues - are struggling to make ends meet.
BREAKING: Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has hinted he will ignore recommendations for public sector pay rises, saying workers "need to recognise the economic context we are in"
There is still much work to be done but our thanks and praise go to our BTP, Met and City colleagues for their response to this afternoon’s incident at London Bridge. The bravery of the public shall not go unnoticed either.
A reminder that is a single site where you can find dedicated police charities that can support your physical and mental health, provide financial assistance and grants and help with retraining/education.
Thank you for the recognition given by

on sky news for the brave actions of our

@metpoliceuk
colleagues dealing with the ongoing Westminster situation today.
Congratulations to
@BTPChief
on his retirement. He achieved what few accomplish - progressing from PC to Chief Constable. Forty years' police service, all in BTP. Thank you for your service.
Our next Award of Excellence recognises the actions of two officers who saved a man’s life. PC Henry Thomas and PC Louis McGrail remained calm during a very challenging situation that took place in Basingstoke
#BTPBrilliance
It’s a privilege and an absolute pleasure to present PC Wayne Marques with a Special Recognition award for his remarkable bravery at the scene of the London Bridge attack
#BTPBrilliance
‘Meeting the stranger who saved my life’ - huge respect to
@Liv1204
for sharing her story, and using her experiences to help educate and inform officers and others.
Our next award goes to an officer who was first on the scene of a devastating wildfire in Wennington, East London. PC Carl Cowper helped to evacuate homes, put out flames and support members of the public.
#BTPBrilliance
PC Wayne Marques is to receive the George Medal for gallantry and PC Leon McLeod will receive the Queen's Gallantry Medal - we’re so proud of our colleagues

It’s hard to believe a year has passed since the London Bridge Fishmonger’s Hall terror attack. Today we’re remembering Jack Merritt and Saskia Jones - and all those who showed extreme bravery on that day.
Heartbreaking news from
@nottspolice
this evening. Our thoughts are with Sgt Saville’s family, friends and colleagues. The death of an officer is felt across the entire police service.

Thank you so much. It really is such an important cause and we know the money we raise will do a lot of good for emergency services colleagues when they need it most.
Knife crime crisis: Home Sec holding 2nd scheduled meeting with police chiefs - 1st one not even reported. Police chiefs demand money for overtime - many officers have no more capacity. Prime Minister refuses more money for policing as it’ll contradict her policy as Home Sec. 🤬
If you can see it, you can be it. Angela McLaren, the new Commissioner of City of London Police, joins our own CC Lucy D'Orsi, Dame Cressida Dick and Dame Lynne Owens as responsible for the safety of the people of London (and beyond).
Man pleads guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm, assault with intent to resist arrest, assault of an emergency worker, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a bladed article and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal
We absolutely support looking at other less risky, less complex and less costly options. If this is as it appears, it’s a thoroughly sensible next step:
Congratulations to our Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi and Chief Supt Dennis Murray who have both been awarded a Queen’s Police Medal in recognition of leadership and improving Diversity in Policing. Well deserved.

At what point are the protectors going to be protected? Last year 766 BTP officers were assaulted. Seven hundred and sixty-six. Of those attacks, 173 left our colleagues with injuries.

Thank you to
@BTPRams
@BTPGregory
for allowing our Chair to join you today wishing Ch/Insp McKinnon a fond farewell after 32.5 years serving. A great friend and a great cop retiring today. You will be missed, we have some great memories on this great journey. A proud achievement
Two years on from the London Bridge attack, we remember those who lost their lives, those who suffered injuries and those who responded, not knowing the dangers they faced.
Pc Andrew Harper's partner Lissie called him the "kindest, loveliest, most selfless” person after he was killed just four weeks into their marriage.
Hundreds of people are expected at the funeral for the 28-year-old officer on Monday
The thin blue line is a little thinner with the loss of a much-loved colleague. We hope the many touching messages we have seen will be a comfort to his family, friends and colleagues
#RIPDanny
Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of Daniel Forde as he is laid to rest today. A member of police staff, Daniel worked in the Justice Department at BTP. He was a well-liked and respected colleague who will be missed.
To those of you enjoying a long weekend with family and friends, we wish you a peaceful Easter. To our colleagues working across the rail network and beyond, thank you. Return home safely (and when you get there, stake your claim to a little chocolate).

"I cannot put into words what this honour means to me and my family… To receive this honour is unquestionably the highlight of my career." Nigel Goodband has been awarded the MBE in the New Year Honours list.
Our colleagues, like those anywhere else in the country, will do everything they can to keep communities safe. But there are no 'extra' officers. Just the same officers coming in early, staying late and working on their days off.
Adding our sincere thanks to those who assisted with information. The majority of the public still support police officers who put their safety second to that of the communities they serve.
Two men have been arrested this afternoon in connection to a serious assault on one of our officers at
#CamdenTown
on Sunday.
We’d like to thank everyone who shared our appeal so widely yesterday and those who contacted us with helpful information.

This is such a pertinent point when explaining officers are run down and tired only to be met with “well that is not reflected in the recorded crime figures”.....clearly not everything is recorded? Thank you as always

“Wayne and Leon are both part of BTP’s future and an important part of our force’s history.”
PCs Wayne Marques and Leon McLeod’s names have been added to BTP’s Gallantry Roll of Honour. It was unveiled...
A day never to be forgotten. Our thoughts are with the families who lost loved ones, those that carry the scars and memories and our courageous colleagues who attended and dealt with the aftermath. We are continually grateful for the support from our chaplains.
#ajoblikenoother
Today we remember those who perished 20 years ago at Ladbroke Grove. We hold in our hearts the memory of those who never returned home that day & who bear the scars, both physically & mentally. The survivors, bereaved and the emergency services & the Chaplains who supported them.
A huge number of sporting fixtures, concerts and carnivals mean this is one of the busiest weekends of the year for our colleagues working across the rail network. If you see them, say hello. Colleagues, look out for one another and stay safe.
